I was attending a conference at Wake Forest and this was one of two hotels near the campus. The hotel itself is pretty run down, but I'm not very picky as I really just needed a place to stay. On my second night, I saw bedbugs on my bed. I was immediately disgusted and as a grad student, I already spent over $500 at this hotel. I told the front desk worker and a few hours later, I get a call from someone at the hotel that I need to come back to change rooms. I had to walk 30 minutes each way which made me miss valuable conference time.
When I spoke to the manager, Terrence Swaby, he was very rude and hostile when I asked for a refund for two nights. You would think he would be apologetic given the circumstances, but he never once said he was sorry. I have never had a manager speak to me in this manner. While I was changing rooms, I saw someone go into another hotel room with some type of pest control equipment. When I booked the hotel, it had pretty good reviews. Now upon looking, there are several recent reviews about bedbugs at this property.
Now even though I was in a different room the rest of my stay, I didn't feel comfortable given my experience. This was by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I was able to get a partial refund (even after Mr. Swaby tried to offer a hotel voucher in turn...), but that won't account for the emotional distress this property has caused me. I truly don't ever wish to stay at a Best Western ever again. I'm also someone who is pretty laid back. This is the first review I've ever written about a hotel, so that speaks volumes given how horrible this place truly is.
Checked in and checked room out and seemed clean. After laying down I felt something moving across my leg, turns out to be a bed bug. I checked out immediately and no manager was on-site for a refund.

Got ate up by bed bugs really bad at 7 am I had the worst stay the receptionist was rude about it elevators are always broken will not be returning they did nothing about the bed bugs at all I have pics and I even took the bed bugs down in a cup to show them proof

Hotel is OK, staff is rude, argumentative with customers.
Have stayed here on and off for work for a few months now, have had some issues with my rooms before but never anything that wasn't resolved until today.
Checked in and got settled into my room, key card quit working, figured out that I was checked into and charged for the WRONG reservation (Nevermind providing my ID and payment card in MY name).
Lady at the front desk (2/12/26 5:27pm), said she fixed my key card for me, no problem.
I return to my room to see on my phone I was also charged again, upon returning to the counter, both the lady at the desk and the hotel manager were both argumentative and confrontational over me being double charged and asking for compensation.
It is not my fault nor should it be my problem your employees cant check someone into the correct reservation, with their identification in hand.
Waiting for a refund, left and will not be back at this location again.
Strongly recommend staying elsewhere.
