  Holiday Inn Review – Rocky Mount & Jacksonville I stayed at two Holiday Inn properties recently—one in Rocky Mount and one in Jacksonville—and the experiences were completely different. The Holiday Inn in Jacksonville is not very fancy in terms of appearance, but the customer service was outstanding. The front desk staff went above and beyond to help me resolve a genuine mistake. Their attitude, patience, and willingness to help made a lasting impression. This is the kind of service that truly represents the Holiday Inn and IHG brand. On the other hand, the Holiday Inn in Rocky Mount is an excellent hotel in terms of facilities and overall condition, but unfortunately the front office customer service was very disappointing. As an IHG member, late checkout is clearly listed as a benefit. I requested only a 30-minute extension, and the front desk staff member refused bluntly, with no courtesy or effort to help. As a result, I had to use the common restroom, and again, no assistance or understanding was offered. Front office staff should remember that their role is to offer solutions, not repeat the problem to the guest. Customer service makes all the difference. The contrast between these two locations was stark—one showed genuine care, while the other lacked basic hospitality. In the end, it’s not the appearance of the hotel that stays in a guest’s heart, but the way they are treated.

  I’ve stayed here before and I’ve never had a problem with anything. Great location. Hot breakfast from 6:30 a.m til 9:00 a.m. but get down there early because about 8:30 they stop replenishing food. It’s good fresh coffee machines through out the day ☕️. Plenty of restaurants close by. 🍔🌭🥗🥞🧇🍗Outback, Texas Steakhouse, it’s a burger place across the street at the Gateway center and other restaurant across the bridge. Gas station as well. The hospital sits across the street at the light . 🏥

  This review is done with a mix of opinions. Per my reservation, I was to notify the hotel if arriving after 9pm. I realized I would not arrive until 10:30 and called the number on the confirmation. This was not a working number. It took 3 phone calls and a run around to actually get a correct phone number for this hotel. This was inconvenient and stressful because one of the calls said they didn't even have a reservation confirmation for me. The hotel room was clean but only one of the two beds was comfortable. One of the reasons this hotel was selected was for the hot breakfast advertised. The food did not all meet good quality standards. The bacon was greasy and not crisp. The potatoes on the other hand were crisp (they should not have been) they were very dried out. Also, they served muffins that were not identified. They turned out to be banana nut, which I don't care for, however, more importantly anyone with a nut allergy could have had an issue since there was nothing to indicate what kind of muffins they were. After going back to my room, I placed the card on the outside saying not ready. Housekeeping knocked anyway and attempted to enter the room. This was at 10:15 am when checkout is at 11am. This was annoying. Finally, when checking out, the woman at the front desk asked how the stay was and I said it was challenging and her response was, "I'm sorry." She never bothered to ask what my concerns were about my stay. I feel that for $140. a night, things should have been better than what they were. I have stayed at other hotels in Rocky Mount as this is my stopping point on my way to and from NJ and FL. This hotel will not receive my business again. Rates are not in line with quality and service.
