We chose this hotel for a very specific reason: the hot tub. We were in town for spring break and celebrating our twins’ 9th birthday, and even though this property was about 35 minutes from the friends we were visiting and roughly $300 more than other nearby options, we booked it because it advertised a hot tub.
Unfortunately, that one key amenity never worked the entire weekend.
When we arrived on Friday, the hot tub was cold. I mentioned it to the front desk and was told it would be turned on. It wasn’t. On Saturday, we asked again and were told it would be taken care of, and that a note would be left for the Sunday staff. Again, nothing. By Sunday morning, after asking for the third time, we were told that maintenance doesn’t work on Sundays, only to later hear from the manager, Melissa, that maintenance wasn’t even required to turn it on (apparently there is just a switch?). Instead, she claimed it had been on and simply cooled off, which was clearly untrue. The water was cold every single time we checked. It’s incredibly frustrating to be given inconsistent explanations and, frankly, to feel like we were being misled.
If the hot tub is broken, just say so and fix it. Don’t repeatedly tell guests it’s being handled when it clearly isn’t.
To make matters worse, the breakfast situation was also concerning. The eggs each morning were placed out refrigerator cold and expected to heat up in the chafing dishes. That doesn’t seem remotely aligned with basic food safety standards.
On our last day, the air conditioning unit began making a loud, disruptive noise. The front desk did offer to move us, but at that point, after an already disappointing stay, it felt like more hassle than it was worth.
I did not ask for a full refund. I did ask for the $300 difference that I paid for the hot tub, and Melissa offered me some extra hotel points, but not enough to be the equivalent to the $300 that I paid for an amenity they don’t even offer.
Overall, this stay was frustrating and disappointing, especially given the premium we paid. We chose this hotel for a specific amenity and never got to use it, and the lack of follow through and honesty from staff made it even worse. I would not stay here again.
