I want to preface this review by saying that although I am giving 3 stars due to an incident, the service I received from Tamera Gore (manager and director of sales) and Craig (front desk) was exceptional and I want to thank them for their kindness and their diligence in trying to resolve the situation. I booked the hotel about 3-4 weeks before arriving from NJ. Due to the government shutdown and flight cancellations we drove 9 hours to get there, starting at 4am. But due to quite a few errands we had, we arrived at the hotel later on that evening and were exhausted. Unfortunately, our room, a queen 1 bedroom suite booked for 9 nights was not available for that Saturday night. Somehow it was occupied and wouldn't be available until the following day, Sunday. After talking about the rooms and beds that we needed, we realized there were no other rooms that we could get to accommodate us as a family. Craig apologized profusely, he tried to resolve the situation, he gave us snacks and drinks while we waited and he made some phone calls but eventually he had to speak to Tamera, who also apologized and immediately tried to find a solution. She offered several options including putting us up in another nearby hotel for one night and then getting us back into the Candlewood suites and into the room we had booked the following day. But the room in the other hotel wasn't adequate for us either and we really didn't want the hassle of searching for our stuff in our suitcases without really unpacking everything and going from one hotel to another when we had so much to do that weekend. Tamera gave me her number and said I could call her at anytime but eventually, after 2 hours and us going to another nearby hotel to see about their rooms and availability, we couldn't find anything else that was suitable and decided to book a hotel in Durham (more driving to get there), that we had stayed at last year. it was actually a bit more expensive but they have king 1 bedroom suites, the free breakfast has improved greatly and this ended up saving us money for the week. Tamera canceled my Candlewood suites booking obviously at no charge to me. So although I was disappointed with the mix-up, and couldn't believe that it happened in the first place, I do understand that mistakes happen. We are all human beings and I was grateful that there were 2 people that tried to help us and that they were courteous and compassionate. I ended up going back 4 days later to pick up medication that I had ordered to be delivered to the hotel(long story) and i spoke with a friendly lady named Nasim/Naseem? who helped to have it put in the fridge until i came to pick it up. So this booking didn't work out for us but we do believe it just wasn't meant to be. Thanks Craig and Tamera, I appreciate how you tried to help. But I sure hope no one else is ever in this predicament.

Great stay. Leo the front desk guy saved my butt and helped me jump my car in the morning when I needed to be somewhere promptly. Thankful for that guy!

I walked into the hotel around 10pm (with my two dogs that I travel very often with) behind a group of people who were smoking, even though there are signs saying it is a smoke-free property. The worker in the lobby (who was sitting on the couch hanging out) talked with the group and didn't say anything to that group as they continued smoking and walking to their room. When the worker saw me, the only thing he says is "You know we only allow one pet, right?" OBVIOUSLY NOT. Not once in my life have I ever encountered a hotel that says they're pet friendly limit their pets to one per room - especially without properly advertising this across their platforms. He told me he was canceling my booking, leaving me without housing for the night and having to scramble to find alternative plans at the last minute. I will never give business to Candlewood Suites. Terrible experience.

I stayed here with my 2 kids and their mother for 7 days and 7 nights during renovations at our home. Our stay here at the Candlewood Suites was great! I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone who needs a place to stay for a prolonged period of time. Our room had a queen bed and TV that was separated from the living room, that had a pull out couch for the kids. The Kitchen was very nice and was stocked with plates, silverware and all the other utilities, utensils and stuff you would need plus a dishwasher. Free use of the laundry machines and Free coffee as well. They also had 2 propane grills outside for you to use under a gazebo. I used one of the grills for all of our dinners, a very nice perk.
