We booked thru booking.com. It was an easy experience. We did arrive late and I called to let them know. They were much appreciative of that call. Room was clean and spacious. I do wish the bed gets made without requesting it tho. I’ll know for next time! I would definitely stay here and any holiday day express again. There is breakfast and it’s pretty decent!

I recently spent 10 days at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites in Havelock, North Carolina. Over the course of the last 4 nights in the hotel I started to regularly see cockroaches crawling along my floor and walls in the evenings. I was finally able to kill some and get photos/videos, but there were quite a few. I didn't have any food out. I was in town for work and was almost through a long trip so I decided to just keep everything closed up and bear it out until I left rather than trying to move rooms. If one room has them, others will too. In a world where everyone tries to go nuclear as their first move, I figured I would report it to them quietly and let them deal with it and make good on the experience. During checkout I brought it up and the front desk clerk was apologetic and said they'd offer me at least a couple thousand IHG points to make up for the experience but they'd follow up with me later to confirm. They called later in the day and said it would be 5000 points... sounded great. I looked up what 5000 points was worth when I got home.... at $0.006 each, it came to a whopping $30. After spending 10 nights and close to $1000 USD on my stay, to say I was a bit let down would have been an understatement. I wasn't looking for a big payday, but 0.003% of the value of my stay in points was a bit of an insult. I tried to reach out to the hotel a few times, no answer at the front desk, and mailbox full. I'd booked through Expedia, so I reached out to them to see if they could help. They opened a ticket and began reaching out to the hotel, providing them copies of the images and videos I took. After multiple attempts over the course of 4 days, the hotel didn't respond once to either myself or Expedia. This morning I reached out to IHG corporate's Guest Services team. You might have guessed how that went by the fact I'm posting here. Long story short, after explaining all of the above, and indicating that the hotel would not respond to either myself or Expedia, their response was... it's not their responsibility because I booked through a third party and that I need to talk to Expedia. I pointed out again how I had talked to Expedia and the hotel hadn't responded to them either... again, talk to Expedia, nothing we can do. Rather than taking responsibility for their hotel network, their final answer was "Nothing we can do, but I can offer you an additional 1000 IHG points." (That's $6.00). :D I turned them down. At this point I would rather make the effort to put this out there for posterity than receive points towards a future stay that will never happen. Great work IHG!

This review has to be titled death by a million papercuts smh. So much went wrong with this stay that I just gave up. Check in went smooth and the person at the counter was really nice and got me set quickly. Once I got to the room it went downhill from there. The room was big but seemed like something was missing that I couldn't put my finger on, it was like there was too much space and realized there was no coffee table or side table to the couch that was there so if you had a drink or food you could only set it on the floor, which I would NEVER do in a hotel lol. The couch "leather" was cracked really bad and coming off which def kept me away from it. The battery in the remote was basically dead and I had to stand close to the tv to change the channel and even pop the battery out and put it back in the get it to work. The next issue was the bathroom sink, the faucet was so far back you couldn't put your hands under the water to rinse them properly and I noticed it felt like the soap wasn't coming off at all as my hands were still slick. I brushed it off and went on about the night. The next thing I noticed was a rattling noise coming from the ac unit that went on the whole night. I got some food and went to eat it at the desk and watch the basketball game but the way the room is arranged isnt possible because you can't see the tv from the desk and that couch wasn't an option. The iron leaked brown water on my clothes. Then I got up to shower and brush my teeth and noticed the water tasted weird when I rinsed and again because of the faucet I had to make sure not to bump my toothbrush on the back of the sink. Stay with me there's more lol. I finally take a shower and I've used the same soap for 15 years and I seemed like I could not rinse the soap off I tried and tried but my skin still felt super slick like there was lotion on it or something. When I went to dry off there was def some residue of something that I wiped off which def had me concerned. The final cherry on top was a visit I got from the roach that popped out of the closet when I was checking myself in the mirror. I guess that was the mascot double checking my outfit. I named him Randy.... Randy Roach! On the way down to checkout I saw a couple I spoke to the night before and asked them about the water and the guys wife was so mad because she felt like she was crazy that it never felt like she washed all of the shampoo out of her hair, turns out it wasn't just me.... I travel 3 days a week and haven't stayed in a holiday inn in years and I doubt I'll be back in this one. I know this seems crazy but I def included pictures. First time seeing a sign at the desk saying they were in the back folding laundry too lol

I just wanted to shout out the manager at this place Raven!! I was at Walmart about two miles away from the hotel and I could not get an uber/lyft or taxi for some reason they were all busy and I waited about an hour. I called and asked what to do and if there was a taxi service which for some reason there wasn’t one either, guess they were really busy it’s kinda a small town, anyway she came and picked me up on her own time and that was so nice since I had groceries and it was about to rain !! Don’t think just anyone would have done this! Thank you 🌞
