Review: Absolute Masterclass in How NOT to Run a Hotel
I had multiple doctor’s appointments during my stay, and somehow this place managed to make every single day unnecessarily difficult.
For six straight days, I calmly and repeatedly went to the front desk (usually evenings, because-again- medical appointments) asking one simple thing: Can I extend my stay?
Every time, I got brushed off with “come back tomorrow.” No explanation. No help. No effort.
Let’s be clear: when a guest asks the same question for nearly a week and keeps getting told to “come back tomorrow,” that’s not policy — that’s laziness.
The front doors barely function. I was locked out multiple times in freezing weather. Staff knew. Nothing was fixed.
Fast forward to the final day. After six days of asking, I’m suddenly told they’re “overbooked.”
Amazing how that happens only after repeatedly refusing to help me plan ahead.
Online showed 1 room available. Customer care said I’d be fine. Front desk told me to “check online.” I did exactly that — booked it — only to wake up to a canceled reservation.
Went downstairs and was immediately talked over, dismissed, and blamed. I was told they “called and texted” me — except I received zero calls, zero texts, zero voicemails.
Then without my consent, my reservation was modified and I was told I needed to pay another day just to survive the chaos they created — plus produce ID to re-enter my own room…
The ID was inside the room I was locked out of.
No assistance. No solution. No attempt to relocate me. No empathy. Nothing.
Because of this, I had to spend an entire day making multiple trips back and forth, packing, storing belongings, and reorganizing my life last-minute. It’s currently 4:22 AM as I write this — that’s how badly this stay derailed me.
Hospitality is literally the job. If basic communication, respect, and problem-solving are too much to ask, this business has no business hosting guests.
Shoutout to the two younger women at the desk (one starts with an A) — they were the only bright spot here.
I will never stay here again, and I’m writing this so others don’t get blindsided the way I did.
If you value your time, sanity, or basic human respect — stay elsewhere.
Do better.

Great location near our office and excellent service. The rooms and the hotel as a whole were very clean. My only real issue was the lack of consistent hot water - the shower stayed hot for just a few minutes before cooling off completely within about 10 minutes. Not ideal after a long day.

We stayed at Tru by Hilton Raleigh /Garner, on the occasion of travel for a Celebration of Life. At such a time overshadowed by sadness, Tru, and Miss Nancy as the Front Desk hostess, was a "light in the dark". We enjoyed the Christmas Decorations; we appreciated the complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate. My husband and I arrived with one daughter and her family, and, when the twin daughters "other" hotel turned out to be a nightmare, Nancy booked this daughter and her family as well! We had 6 children enjoying the game room, safe and sound! AND, Josie, the new puppy, was welcome!!
Thank you, Nancy and crew!
From lemon& sugar soap to a hot breakfast in the morning before we traveled out to the funeral .. everything was perfect 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
