Attended a Veteran's program held in a large meeting room with an elevated platform, mike, podium, lecture-style seating and a very nice post-meeting appetizer buffet. Great setup in a business class hotel with plenty of parking and friendly service.

There used to be a time when you could walk into a hotel and feel a little spark of ✨magic✨. That small moment of delight. That warmth. Almost like Kevin walking into the Plaza in Home Alone 2. My last stay at the Hilton Durham near Duke University actually reminded me of that feeling again. Something I didn’t expect to say after posting a very blunt, very frustrated review earlier. For six months, I stayed here three nights a week and had a long list of issues I didn’t hold back on. And to be fair, part of that is on me. I wasn’t voicing my concerns clearly and somehow expected things to magically fix themselves. When I finally spoke up, they listened. And How! After my original review, I expected the usual corporate shrug. Instead, the opposite happened. The Managing Director, Doug Pender, personally reached out and took the time to understand every concern I had. Adrienne from the front office also followed up and explained exactly what went wrong and what was being corrected. That level of ownership is rare these days. It reminded me of a time when hospitality still felt like hospitality, the way it used to in the “good old days” before everything became transactional. And they didn’t just talk. They delivered. My Wi-Fi issue? Fixed immediately, and they even set up a personalized temporary login for me. The repeated frustration with no one remembering my name? They offered a complimentary breakfast to make up for it. I didn’t take it, but the gesture mattered. Most importantly, the attitude changed. I just wanted to be treated like a human being, and on this stay, I genuinely was. I'm updating my rating from 1 star to 4. Not because everything is flawless now, but because they showed care, accountability, and real follow-through. That deserves recognition. To the staff and management: thank you for listening, for responding, and for bringing back a bit of that old-school hospitality feeling. I hope this momentum continues for every guest who walks through those doors. The issues in my first review were real, and the frustration was earned. But I also stand by this update. When a property takes feedback seriously and makes a visible effort to improve, that deserves acknowledgment. So yes, I’m bumping my rating from 1 star to 4. Not because everything is magically flawless, but because they listened, they acted, and they showed that a comeback is possible. Professional respect where it’s due. And I hope this level of care continues.

Not what it used to be. Service at the front desk was rushed, even though there was no one in line, no smiles and no happy faces like they used to have. And then starting Feb, 2024 they started charging $5 parking fee!!!? Used to be a good place to stay but I won’t be going there no more. Marriot and other locations offer same rate and better service and free parking closer by

I arrived last night and went to sent down are the desk to eat. There was trash on the floor (crumbs, napkins). I picked up the trash and didn't say anything because I was tired. However, I went to shower this morning and the shower was dirty. There was an old rag in there. Additionally, the light in broken so the shower is dark. It was very clear that this room was not cleaned well. I was moved to a new room. When I went to shower, I noticed strands of hair in the shower. I turned the water on (in a rush to get to my meeting) and it was brown. I had to run it for 10 minutes. This is my second year staying here on business at Duke University and both times have been unfavorable.

Awesome hotel! Lynette was the lady that checked me in She was quite knowledgeable about the area and things to do. Also knew exactly where to guide me for a local pharmacy and any other shopping I might need. The rooms are extremely clean air-conditioning was very cold, which I appreciated and there was a sufficient amount of towels, and soaps and shampoos and conditioners provided for my stay.
