Wonderful resort. The property is well kept and nicely decorated. I like where we stayed, off the main building. Had a suite with an adjoining king which was perfect for traveling with children. Bathrooms were spacious with double vanity and separate shower and soaking tub. Water pressure in the shower was a little weak for my taste. Ground floor walk out right to our own fire pit and just a few steps from the beach! The Lifesaving Station restaurant was nice to have on site for breakfast and dinner. It was cold and windy when we visited in March, so we didn’t use the pool and some of the bars/restaurants on property weren’t open, but I would love to come back and visit during the summer sometime.

My husband and I stayed here mid March this year. This was our first time at the Sanderling Resort and we were impressed. The overall aesthetics is very beach resort. They live up to their name. Since we had our sweet little dog with us, we booked a ground level Pool Patio King Suite.
We arrived about 2 hours before check-in at 4 pm because we were trying to beat an incoming storm, we were able to do an early check-in with no issues. Our room was just beautiful. The decor really set the mood for a relaxing and peaceful stay. Even the light fixtures were so beautiful and I told my husband that I want the same walk-in shower for our house 😂
They even had a dog bed and dog bowls set up in the room with the water filled up for our girl. Housekeeping did a great job with cleaning the room.
It only took us about 2 minutes to the beach from our resort and they have a huge grass area for pets to do their business. Very pet friendly resort.
The Lifesaving Station is their on-site restaurant that is open in the off season. We went there several times throughout our 3 night stay and we received great service each time. The food was pretty good. The desserts was the star and they have really good coffee!
There were a few minor mishaps throughout our stay but what impressed me was how quickly the resort resolved those issues. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to booking with the Sanderling the next time we vacay in the OBX.
Great location and new rooms look amazing, disappointed in small details that show like the soap being so slimy that I know it’s old, no coffee maker in the room, staff looked stressed, no towels for pool/beach, yes it’s off season but beach is open to walk on and would like to wipe off since water is off. The restaurant on site was good just slow service

Sanderling Resort exceeded my expectations. The room was beautiful with a stunning view, and the atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing. The staff stood out for their professionalism and kindness always attentive and friendly. It was a memorable stay, and I’d gladly return for another couple of days of luxury and tranquility.
The staff is incredible. So wonderful. Cassie, Lauren and Lisa make this place a great stay. We truly had a fantastic stay because of them.
Like another reviewer stated, if you go outside of high season nothing is available in the hotel. I couldn’t even get a Diet Coke. Had to walk to the restaurant next door or drive. The fridge is so small and there’s no microwave. I left the property for most meals including lunch. You just need to be prepared.
The sound proofing is awful. I could hear everything at 6:30 am in the room above. I really didn’t want to be up that early. Little maintenance issues as well.
The rooms are gorgeous as is the property. Lots of places to sit. Outdoor firepits. The hot tub was terrific and they provided beach chairs and towels.
