    I would give zero stars if I could. I'm not sure this should reflect the staff at this particular hotel or the IHG One Rewards folks or both. I called to make my reservation the 4th week in July to stay the second week of August. Not once was I told the hotel was having any issues with their water. They made my reservation, had me sent over to listen to an IHG Rewards person about buying a timeshare blah blah blah. I thought all was good. Then I got a call 4 days before my arrival that my reservation had been canceled due to a CONTINUING issue with the hotels water. I called back the IHG Reward folks and assumed they would set us up in a different hotel of theirs but HA! None of the surrounding hotels were pet-friendly as this one is and they were not willing to make exceptions. Anyone with a pet knows boarding an animal takes advanced planning. They also did not offer to look into other non-affiliated hotels to help us with this last minute accommodation that was out of our control. This resulted in me being on the phone all day with numerous other hotels and paying over $300 more for the exact same kind of stay. Not once did IHG offer a coupon or anything for this chaos. I understand that some situations are out of your control but from my conversations and a few other reviews here, this was a known issue to the company but it was not relayed to the customer. We should have been made aware much sooner to allow us to make proper accommodations. Way to really care about your patrons experiences.. I will do whatever I can to avoid staying at any of their establishments if this is their company's culture.

    We were looking forward to our time in Blowing Rock, NC. We had visited last year, before the hurricane, and fell in love with the area. We were happy to be returning and reserved with this Holiday Inn, IHG property well in advance and noted that they had a closure because of plumbing issues. According to their website repairs were to be done by Aug 1st, well in advance of our reservation for Aug 11th. We made back up reservations just in case. As Aug 7th rolled around, I cancelled my back up reservations as their website said that they were fully operational plus they still had rooms available. Then on Aug 8th, we received a call cancelling our reservation because of plumbing issues. At this point their website still did not reflect this closure. They didn’t offer us any other explanation or recourse. As a repeat customer of IHG and IHG member, I was hoping for a basic level of service based on my previous experience with the brand, however this is the first time we were left to fend for ourselves. I called IHG member services, hoping for a better explanation of the terrible customer experience at this Holiday Inn Express. The out sourced agent we spoke to offered only 15000 points for the trouble and also became argumentative and accusatory saying that it was my fault by cancelling the back up reservations. At the very least, we were hoping they would book us at a nearby Holiday Inn property for the same rate but they refused to. We no longer trust this brand, being left out in the cold looking for a last minute establishment at exhorbitant rates.

    We booked this hotel over a month ago. Had a conformation email and reservation number. Spoke to a person who claimed to be on-site when making the reservation (the phone number area code was for the area too). When we arrived on the day of our stay, the hotel was closed! A person at the desk said they had been closed over a month due to a water main break. No offer for our money back or room at nearby Holiday inn. We live 5 hrs away. This is a busy weekend for the area and we struggled to find somewhere to stay. I am frustrated we were not informed of the closure so that we could make alternate plans. We have stayed here before and it was a good hotel. I am extremely disappointed in the lack of communication about their closure. It could have been a lot worse for us if we had arrived later in the evening.
