I arrived as a guest and am now emotionally attached to the property.
The rooms are spotless, the beds are suspiciously cozy, and I slept so well I woke up convinced I had my life together.
Now, let’s talk about the real MVP: the bar. And the heart of the bar: Alex, the bartender. If charisma was a cocktail, Alex is serving doubles. She is the human equivalent of a perfectly shaken margarita - smooth, strong, and impossible not to love. She remembers your order, your name, and probably your childhood pet’s name too. I don’t know how, I don’t make the rules.
Her customer service? Unmatched and inspired. Her overall energy? The reason this hotel deserves a loyalty program just for surviving the force of her greatness. If you come here and don’t stop by the bar, you’re basically staying at a building shaped like a hotel, but missing the entire plot.
Staff: delightful.
Bar: elite.
Alex: legendary.
Stay here. Tip Alex. Hydrate later.

We are overwhelmed with the quality of the rooms and the quality of the help. Emily was wonderful and satisfying our small requests. We've stayed here several times and will continue to stay here in the future

The elevator has a posted rated capacity of 2,500 lbs inside the car. However, on the ground floor, there was a printed paper sign taped to the wall stating “no more than 4 people.” Which we did not see as it was 10:30pm and we were all tired from traveling.
My group consisted of 6 adults, 1 baby, and 3 pieces of luggage (well under the 2,500 lb rated capacity, assuming average adult weights). We entered Elevator Number 1 on the ground floor, pressed the button for floor 3, and closed the doors. After about a minute, we noticed the elevator was not moving. We tried pressing other floor buttons, but nothing happened.
We then used the emergency call button. The operator instructed us to hold the door open button for 5 seconds (which we did, with no result) and to press each floor button one at a time (which we also tried, again with no result). After further waiting, the elevator appeared to lose power or fully shut down, except for the overhead lights remaining on. We were trapped inside.
The operator informed us they were calling for help. Eventually, hotel staff arrived and manually opened the doors from the outside, freeing us. Upon release, the staff blamed us for the incident, claiming we ignored the “no more than 4 people” sign. We then used the stairs for the remainder of our stay.
This malfunction trapped multiple passengers (including a baby) for an extended period, creating a significant safety hazard. Triggering a full shutdown and preventing door opening at such low occupancy suggests a potential issue with the overload sensors, door interlocks, or overall system calibration—especially given the rated capacity of 2,500 lbs.
I believe this may violate requirements under the Mississippi Conveyance Safety Act and ASME A17.1 standards for safe overload protection and passenger egress. This MUST be fixed or others will be trapped like us!

The elevator magically does not hold more than four people at a time and is apparently “solved” by hanging a sign next to it, not sure how that’s up to code. They have cribs but no mattresses and couldn’t be bothered to bring it to the room for us. If I could rate lower I would.
