We recently stayed at Big Cedar Lodge during their "Home for the Holidays" experience, and it was fabulous! Our lakeside cottage was cozy, had everything we needed including a grill, and a beautiful view of Table Rock Lake and its fall foliage. We even had a Christmas tree! The property is decked out in holiday cheer, with lights all over the property, a new ice skating rink, tubing, tram rides, and gingerbread building classes (with an adult version). We LOVED the Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail self-guided electric golf-cart holiday light tour! We barely scratched the surface when it came to their holiday offerings. Kids will love Fun Mountain as there is a bolley alley, arcade, and a ton more for them to enjoy. We also appreciated their on-site restaurant scene. Needless to say, we were well fed on our trip. Lobster thermidor, elk soup, rainbow trout. Yum! We HIGHLY recommend Big Cedar lodge. It is so expansive and has everything you need, making it optional to step foot outside of the property unless you're itching too. You won't be disappointed!

We went to the golf cart tour at Top of the Rock this evening which was absolutely amazing! So beautiful and fun. Special shout out to Adrian who showed us where the Buffalo Bar was. He was extremely friendly and went above and beyond by helping get my mom a wheelchair because we had left hers in the car by the golf carts thinking we wouldn't need it. We were able to explore much more of this gorgeous property thanks to him. Excellent service!

I want to start this review by saying that my family has made many wonderful memories at Big Cedar through the years. Sadly this year will be our last. Over the years, we have visited the site many times. We have stayed in various rooms and lodges, attended weddings, taken our kids to see Santa, played golf, and eaten at every restaurant they have to offer, all of which has equated to literally thousands of dollars spent. We are headed there again this year as we have a new child that has never experienced Big Cedar at Christmas, and we are also bringing friends. We have had the reservation for some time. Upon recent review of the booking our friends asked if we’d be ok to get a larger cottage so we would have room to put the kids in their own room. We obliged, and called Big Cedar to make the changes. We were informed that the change could be made and we would be refunded the total amount less the cancellation fee. I was confused and asked why we would be assessed the fee, as we weren’t cancelling but upgrading to a larger cottage (She had told us that cancelations would be charged to people truly cancelling and/or downgrading). She said she would have to ask her manager and get back with us. She did, and confirmed that we would be assessed the cancellation fee. I again asked why because we were not “cancelling” anything. This is when she informed me that her manager had assessed the situation and our upgrade “wasn’t that substantial and that we would likely even be saving money.” (What? No, we are paying more money.) I said, so now we are putting stipulations on “said upgrade”. She didn’t have an answer and by this time in the phone call had become very put out and short, I’m sure I was the same. So, as a business owner I asked myself, “why in the world is this lady and her manager fighting a customer who is clearly aggravated, yet still coming to their property to spend lots of money, over $100.” Yes, $100. Not an amount that is going to break the bank by any means, but at this point it is all about principle with me. I have and will again one last time go to Big Cedar to spend thousands of dollars, but now it is with such a horrible taste in my mouth that I will consciously or subconsciously do my very best to minimize all spending on the trip. How in the world has a company of this magnitude has such success operating at the service level with such a void in business acumen. Talk about tripping over a dollar to pick up a dime…. I digress. It’s sad. A place that truly can be magical, but once you peek behind the curtain you quickly notice that it’s all a facade for a pile of corporate greed. Looking for options to go elsewhere next holiday season.

My family absolutely loves Big Cedar. From the staff, to the amenities, dining, and entertainment- it’s a delight- especially at Christmas time. It’s a family tradition we come here every December and it’s one of if not the favorite vacation we look forward to each year. Make it a family tradition and you won’t regret it- the memories are priceless.

We booked a stay at Big Cedar months ago with plans to visit in October 2026, as we were told we needed to wait 11 months prior to our plans. We were told it would be 3 nights and 2 full days. We were told today that check in was 4pm on Sunday and we had to check out by Tuesday at 10am; thus is really only a 1 day stay. Plus on this 1 day we were now told there is a required 2 hour tour of the facility which now takes time out of our stay. We tried to cancel and were told we can’t. I know of no Hotel or Resort where you can’t get you $ back with 11 months notice. This is a rip off, don’t book Big Cedar using Bluegreen vacations. We were looking forward to staying at Big Cedar as I’m sure it would be a great time; however they should consider using a different booking agent other that Bluegreen Vacations.
