  This is the second stay here. Unfortunately for a sad occasion due to my father’s passing. This hotels staff made all the difference in our stay during such a difficult time. The front desk was kind enough to print out my eulogy since the office desk computer could not connect to the internet. Donna in the breakfast area was a gem every morning ensuring all her guests had a delightful breakfast experience. Every day she made sure to make my oatmeal in the microwave. Great staff! Two opportunities in the hotel were the internet connection and the air conditioning unit in room 308. It did not have a thermostat on the wall like the other rooms making it a little more difficult to control the temperature.

  It's an older hotel and the rooms are a little dated, but it's safe and secure and the rooms are affordable. The front desk and breakfast staff were friendly, but the breakfast area is a little small. I would recommend it and stay there again.

  We were on a road trip from NC-- We arrived early myself and my son walked into the lobby where we were looked at as if we had two heads. We both head straight to the restroom-- we have stayed at multiple HIE and loved our experiences so we didnt hesitate in booking this one for our stay. The area was very "crowded" with alot of homeless in the area with another hotel that had rates at weekly or monthly posted on the sign out front. Like I stated before.. we arrived early so we drove around for a short period and came to the conclusion that this wasn't the hotel we were comfortable with returning to (late after 11) after a baseball game we were in the area for. We requested to be moved to another Holiday Inn Express in the area but was informed that they are a franchise but each was independently owned that they could not honor that request and that if we didnt stay we would not get a refund with it being same day cancelation. Mind you we are returning later at night with alot of homelessness in the area not sure how exactly safe we would feel. The reviews we read before were great which is why we booked. I read reviews before booking..I would just keep in mind all that is going on in this area before booking. We never entered the room so I cant speak on the cleanliness on that front. I really thought HIE would transfer our reservation.

  In all fairness, the hotel may have been fine inside, but the entire area was so sketchy and the parking area so unsafe looking that I never made it inside. It looked nothing like the website and there were several people in the parking lot with all their belongings, looking like they'd maybe just lost their spot at the low rent-by-the-week next door that caters to the unhoused population. As two females traveling with a child who plan to return to the hotel late at night after an event, this was not a situation that felt safe. I tried to transfer to another HIE/IHG property but they wouldn't allow it. It's very disappointing to be treated that way as a loyal IHG customer and I highly recommend they reconsider their branding affiliation with this property because I do NOT think it meets standards.

  I booked this hotel a full year in advance of Comic-Con to ensure we had a room reasonably close to the convention center. The location ended up being convenient—only about a ten‑minute drive. Check‑in was quick and straightforward, which helped set a good first impression. As I always do, I took photos of the room upon arrival. It’s a habit that helps document the room’s condition in case any issues come up before, during, or after the stay. Overall, the room was in solid shape. The only minor concerns were a small gap in the bottom corner of the door that let in a bit of light, and the mood‑lighting strip behind the TV, which stopped working after the first night. Neither issue affected the stay in any major way. Our room was located on the main floor at the back of the property. The trade‑off was that the view wasn’t particularly appealing, as it faced a large warehouse behind the hotel. Still, for the purpose of attending Comic-Con, the room met our needs comfortably.
