Historical LandmarkReligious OrganizationThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
In 1838, 17 Latter-day Saints were killed by vigilantes at Hawn’s Mill, a frontier settlement located in Caldwell County, Missouri. Today, Hawn’s Mill is a peaceful commemorative landscape owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Nice to visit and honor those who were unjustly persecuted for their religious beliefs.

Solemn and reverent place. Definitely sacred ground. Dirt roads only so you'll need a car wash afterwards.

The gravel road was surrounded by beautiful fields full of deer. The site itself only has a very small parking lot and an old plaque. But if you read the story before you come (or while you are there), it is a place of significance and has a lovely and inviting spirit.

There is a spirit here, so worth it for our trip. Our youngest was 13 so we had older kids. DO NOT go after a rain. It is a flood area, i would for sure take the east entrance in and out. This is a lot of one lane dirt roads. We almost went off a 10x12 concrete bridge (leaving on the west side) because we went over it sideways. (it was sooooo muddy) We rented a suburban but got a rear wheel drive expedition and almost had a disasterous tow bill. The mud would not have been passible in a sedan. The wonderful clerk at the far west temple sight said there has been many a 700 dollar tow bill come out of Haun's Mill.
