I really truly wanted to love this experience which overall, it was an ok time. Booked a room as Ive never stayed in the iconic hotel. Valet at $40 seemed a bit steep but delightfully easy check-in was a breeze and everyone friendly. Ooof. The room. I can only liken the smell to a grandmas fart. It was like the smell from an antique perfume bottle fished out of the closet of an estate sale mixed with years of tobacco tar seeping through wallpaper and dust. The room was dated, for sure. Mostly cleanish with some mystery grease/booger on the baseboard directly in front of the closet and dust lingering on all the fixtures. My allergies were flaring almost instantly. Slippers and robe were fun but the robe was SO stiff and scratchy, luxe attempt failed delivery. Restaurant was booked until 8pm which was fine, was told to hit up the lobby bar (which was packed) waited for around 15 minutes, got a seat and then was informed they were not serving food that evening. There was no mention of this anywhere, online or otherwise. The front desk and restaurant hostesses suggested the lobby bar. Bummer. Dinner at the restaurant was ok. Seated quickly when the reservation came up. Hostesses were so friendly! Server seemed irritated I was there, I get it, they were busy. I ordered a Cesar salad and fries. Salad was soggy, completely saturated with dressing and the fries were burnt to a crisp & cold, I definitely got the bottom of an old batch. The dessert was good. At night I turned on the fan in the room and it made a wheezing sound continuously which I could ignore but would likely irritate others. Omg there was also a wedding and I was placed on that parties floor so I had to listen to people running around having a good time all. Night. Long. Like good for them but this was a whole Wednesday night lol I was tired the next morning. Coffee in the lobby bar was 10/10 perfection, barista was quick and made a great latte. Check out was quick and easy. Overall a funny stay I had to laugh at how I hyped up this experience in my head. Fun stay, it was okay but not worth the $ imo.

An unforgettable experience to stay in such a plush historic hotel. The restaurant /food was so good. But you pay well for it. It was a very nice treat to live like royalty for the night 🤩

Excellent shrimp scampi. Beautifully plated and wonderful sauce that did not drown the shrimp. Also photo of Rice Park looking out from the front of the St. Paul Hotel.

This hotel is incredibly cute, but has its issues. First off, the staff is incredibly kind and helpful. They do seem to go out of their way for clientele, which is why I can't give the rating a 1. I've now stayed in a standard room and an executive suite. The first time I stayed was when I was in my 20's and just got done with a wedding. So, I didn't note much. The rooms consist of age-appropriate furniture for the age of the hotel. Which, has its own pros and cons. The shower heads have never been moved to accommodate the average heights of Americans in the 21st century. With that in mind, I was in several inches of standing water while showering. The tub drain took quite some time after my few minutes showering to finally drain. The QR codes for streaming on the TV don't work with the latest Samsung Android. Neither do the QR codes for room service. I went to the website to download the roomservice PDF, tried opening it with multiple apps, and it wouldn't open on either of our androids. The bed we had was comfortable with decent pillows, which was the room's saving grace. After one night, I wanted to bath in a vat of lotion with a humidifier to save my skin and sinuses. Overall, the look is endearing and the staff is amazing, but the functionality is less than desirable.
