- MBMary BronsteatterMar 27, 20265.0Great place to stay in Rochester while going to Mayo Clinic. It was our first visit to this hotel. The room was extremely clean and quiet. Great location and mattress was very comfortable. The kitchenette was great and useful as we were there 5 days. A very positive experience.
- BGBonnie GagnonMar 11, 20262.0I booked a room with Candlewood customer service 5 weeks in advance and shared a lot of details of my medical condition, and upcoming procedures at Mayo, after which requires no coughing, sneezing etc due to the delicacy of the spinal patch, etc.. I was assured I would be in a allergy safe room. Unfortunately, I struggled through a severe allergic reaction with coughing, wheezing, sneezing, itching eyes etc. all night. I've never before had an allergic reaction to a hotel room. The front desk informed me I was in a "very pet friendly room" - one of the worst places for me. I was then transferred to a different room and was told I might find myself in the same situation, where I did indeed. I then tried desperately to change hotels within IHG and hoped to recover in time for surgery. I was on the phone with customer service for over an hour, transferred 3 times, with no solution. Eventually I found a room at a different hotel, but was stuck with a higher price due to last minute booking. This allergic reaction might cost me my entire trip to Mayo, my procedures, and has already cost me my immediate basic health. Additionally, the water coming out of the bathroom faucet and shower was extremely brown and caused itching on my skin. The front desk said they had had an issue and had to turn off the water for awhile, and that sediment was now coming through the pipes. Very disappointed with this experience. If you're a pet lover and have zero allergies, this might be a good hotel for you. All of the front desk staff were nice.
