Very interesting museum, with informative signage. Predominately up ~40% grade hill, with rough dirt path leading to various displays, both indoors, and outside. Sunday afternoon, door unlocked in replica mission bldg. Some discussion of the tragedy that Missionary and Government actions had on Native Peoples, though you must follow up to learn even a fraction of the Native American experience. A plaque near the parking lot at the base of the hill offers some resources, and avenues for additional information and historical education. I was happy we stopped. I looks out on the Minnesota river, and nearby is a dammed section called Lac qui Parle with two Mn Park Service campgrounds and a boat launch, and swimming area. Most quiet and peaceful camping I have ever experienced. Lovely. Very spacious and well spaced campsites, from carting-in sites, to renting, to full hookups., and even 3 cabins. Toilets, showers, sanitary dump. The ride from St Paul goes through beautiful farm country. All very enjoyable.
