I actually work for IHG and as an employee I was very disappointed in the way the night Auditor handled my situation. On the night of Nov. 22 around 2:30am I arrived at the hotel from Grand Rapids, Michigan. It's about a two and a half hour drive from where I live to this property. A very good friend of mine was in the area for work and I went to go see him. Since I'm an employee and work for IHG I set him up with a reservation and used my discount to get the room for him. The room was in my name first since I set up the reservation from my IHG app on my phone. Then the day he checked in I called up to the hotel and told the front desk to add his name to the reservation that he would be the one checking into the property. When I got to the front desk last night to get the room number and a key the night auditor said my name was not on the account and she couldn't give out the key or room #. How is that possible when it was my discount used and I'm the one that made the reservation. None of this made any sense to me. I called IHG customer service and told them what was going on and she said she could see my name right on the reservation. The customer service lady called the hotel and spoke with the night auditor. When the customer service lady came back on the line she told me all I needed to do was show proper identification and I was all set. I went back inside and told the night auditor that customer service said all I had to do was show her my driver's license and I could get a key. Nope, she said that they were wrong and she still couldn't give me a key or the room #. My friend's phone was dead and he was asleep so I couldn't get a hold of him that way. I did not just drive 2 and a half hours to not get to see my friend in a room that I made the reservation for and that I used my discount on. I asked her if she would call up to his room and tell him I'm here. She said no that I would have to bring this up with the manager. Again, I told her that this reservation came from my phone and that my discount was used how is it possible that my name isn’t on the room? She finally called up to his room and he answered and told her that he was expecting me. She gave me the room number and I went up there. All of that could've been completely avoided. Not necessary at all. Either she's wasn't looking in the right place or something because I asked my boss at my hotel that I work at and they said that my name has to be on the room somewhere if I'm the one that made the reservation.

Dirty! Employees, more engaged with cell phones, than attending to housekeeping and maintenance issues. We were enticed by the location, but so disappointed as this is not what’s expected of an IHG brand. Trash still in our room, missing lightbulbs, shower did not drain, toilets not flushing, laundry equipment broken, gym not cleaned, unfilled towels, breakfast area unkept and unfilled. I ended up restocking items in the gym myself from open and unattended rooms (staff on cell phones in stairwells) and cleaning all gym equipment. Storage rooms with linen full of dirty dishes and supplies on the floor along wall. I did know the TripAdvisor reviews for recent trips are showing similar reviews. No cell phone policy should be initiated in a complete clean and repair of the hotel from top to bottom is required.

The staff at this location is very friendly & accommodating; however, the suites are in need of maintenance as well as a more thorough cleaning. When arriving at our suite we found random bits of cereal under the couch and under the ottomans in the common area. We also found change and a random assortment of towels in the living room tv stand drawers. The plates in the kitchen cabinet had bits of food and when we opened the dishwasher we found the previous guests’ dishes inside. Front desk offered to move us to another suite, but we were only staying for 1 night and declined her offer. She also offered a 15% discount on our stay, but as we booked through hotels.com we needed to go through them to apply the discount. Apparently when hotels.com approached the hotel they refused. The paint on the walls was chipping, and the soap/lotion dispenser in one of the rooms had fallen (or was ripped). The stand was sitting on the bathroom counter and no effort was done to either re-install the stand or repair the wall. The tv remote in the common area needed the batteries replaced and the ottoman in the common area had some pretty visible stains. I can only imagine how rushed their cleaning and building repair staff must be to have overlooked so many issues in one suite and deem it appropriately clean to assign to a guest. I cannot emphasize enough how friendly and helpful their staff was, but it was clear they were RUSHING to get their job done.

Some of the recent reviews mention that the hotel is dirty and not properly renovated; this was not my case when I stayed here. The rooms were a little rough on the edges, but were very clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly, 3pm check in and noon checkout, room was ready upon arrival. For the fair price I paid, I got an efficiency apartment with full kitchen (large fridge, microwave, coffee maker, stove, toaster, dishes) and king size bed and couch. It's tucked away from the traffic, but close to many stores, restaurants, and attractions. Parking lot felt safe and well lit. I'd stay here again.
