I was desperately trying to stay, friend Loyal. This is the second bad experience. I’ve had at this hotel. I wanted to give it a second chance. Unfortunately, it seems like IHG is hiring, especially in the Detroit area, the same composite of employees who lack professionalism, are lazy, look like it just rolled out of bed and most importantly, treat the customers as though they are huge inconvenience.
When I stayed here two years ago, the heating wasn’t working and a few of the rooms I had to switch rooms three times
Two days ago I checked in to room 524. The heater wasn’t working and there won’t look extremely broken. They switched me to room 530. The heater still wasn’t working.
I made the best of it even though I slept and it was extremely cold. I called downstairs to the front desk the next day to see if they could at least bring up a space heater. She said she was too busy and didn’t have time that I should come downstairs. I asked her if she could have housekeeping send it up for anyone and she said no that they probably wouldn’t want to do that Which I thought was extremely rude. They could’ve figured out a way they have enough employees to bring a space heater up to a guest
Let’s not forget the phone wasn’t even working in the room.
Upon checking out, the woman all of a sudden put a mask up over her face if she’s not concerned about her health, maybe she should just stay home she looked extremely uncut. Her hair was extremely wiry. I don’t think this woman had washed her clothes either extremely dirty just like the people that worked here the night before, but the girls the night before were a little bit nicer, but they seem to be more engaged on their phones and talking to each other not to the customers
Ihg needs to stop worrying about checking off all the boxes when hiring people and hiring people that are qualified and who want to be there

Disguising coffee, whoever made the coffee should be fired, and whoever hired them should also be fired. Absolute crappiest gym I’ve ever seen in a hotel anywhere in the world. They shouldn’t even be allowed to operate as a holiday inn with these facilities in such bad shape. Maybe a motel 6. Garbage equipment. Old. Broken. Dangerous. You’re robbing people who expect certain things from certain hotel brands…the ownership and management here should be ashamed….and fired. If you can’t have decent coffee and a decent gym…close your doors, you’re not meeting BASIC expectations.

Shamarre at the front desk was rude as hell. More concerned about her phone call than the guests, plus she was completely unorganized with the paperwork.

Pretty typical of a holiday Inn but a little worn out. We stayed here twice in two weeks due to flight connection schedules between the coasts.
First stay seemed to be an updated room. It was clean and the facilities worked as expected. The room felt and smelled clean. Just three opposite situations in our second stay. The room smelled dirty when we walked in the door. We figured it was the disgustingly dirty carpet. We kept our shoes and our socks on the entire stay. If it were not 10:00 pm we would have changed rooms. The bathroom was tiny. The sink water pressure was just more than a trickle. The shower had the hot and cold plumbing reversed so you had hot right away. No big deal but not right.
The beds in both rooms were comfortable. The headboards were worn and visible marks where years of heads rested. Kinda gross actually.
The staff was lethargic but pleasant. You don’t see much staff when you checking late at night and out early the next morning.
There was a restaurant tipped to the hotel called Urban Steak. This was the highlight of our stay. The staff here were top notch. They could not do enough for you. No pictures as the food was not designed to impress the eye but the flavors were good. We had hamburgers and the Urban Salad one night. My wife really liked the Urban salad and ordered it again. I had the onion soup and a Cesar salad. Soup was good as was the salad.
My wife and I are both IHG a members. We get a pretty good rate. The hotel is convenient to the airport. There is a contracted shuttle service, no charge, to and from the hotel/airport. The drivers are very polite and helpful. Sad that very few people tip them for their services.
