When we arrived at 6pm on a Saturday, there was a line of people waiting to check in with no one at the front desk. We tried calling but no one answered. People said that the lady left but never came back. Some people thought she might have had a personal medical emergency. We waited for about 20 minutes before someone showed and then it took another 20 minutes before we could check in. Once checked in, the kids were excited to head down to the pool, only to find that no one was in there. We assume it was because the chlorine levels were so high that the kids started coughing after being in there for only 10 minutes. The kids swam in the big pool, but after a couple of minutes, started complaining that their eyes were burning. We left after all of us started finding it hard to breathe. Over all, we only stayed one night, but the lack of staff, long wait to check in and the reason we stayed at this hotel over others in the area (the pool), was a bust. We'll be checking out the Best Western next time.

Do not stay here! This is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in.
The room was impossible to keep at a comfortable temperature. The unit blew either iceberg cold or blast furnace hot for 10 minutes at a time - that was how it "controlled" temperature. The room is miserable to be in, alternating between freezing and suffocating.
There are three quarter inch wide gaps where the window and unit meet. I used towels to try to block the freezing December air, which was letting in enough air to blow out a candle. Not what I expected from a Hampton Inn.
The worst part is the tub: it's extremely curved, making you clutch the grab bar while your feet constantly slide around. My wife fell in the tub because of this (we filled out an incident report). Also, there is very little water pressure, and the water doesn't get very hot. The tub took several hours to drain, which left it dirty, and the toilet clogged easily. There's also some kind of pink mold between the tub and floor.
The guests leave a lot to be desired as well. Every night we were there, groups of children ran screaming up and down the halls, and "adults" had loud parties in their rooms. We reported it to the front desk, but it didn't help.
The rooms are small, and there are no night tables on the opposite sides of the queen beds! I guess you can put your glasses, phone, book, etc on the floor. So forget about charging your phone near you as you sleep - you'll need a 10 foot cord, or else charge it across the room.
The bedding is horrible, a sewn-together mass of sheet, blanket, and comforter, which weighs 30 pounds and stays wadded up on the middle of the bed, or on the floor. Useless for warmth, you'll end up manhandling it all night just to get a tiny piece of it to cover your body. Just terrible.
The lobby in the mornings was extremely cold, probably 50⁰ or so. Everyone was bundled up like they were outside. Miserable way to wake up.
I've never seen a Hampton Inn even remotely this bad.
The only bright spot in the whole horrible stay was "T" at the front desk. She went above and beyond several times to help us, and really provided excellent customer service. We stay at Hilton properties exclusively, and she's the best I can remember at any of them. Some other, better hotel in Lansing should snap her up.
Good news: The front desk staff was friendly and the free breakfast was good.
Bad news: In the room, the sink was clogged until we totally removed the stopper. Also, the previous guest's hair was still in the shower drain. There was also an alarm set for 5:59am on the alarm clock in the room. I did not think to check that and didn't even realize the clock had an alarm on it until it woke me up!
Also there was a weird mix-up with my mother-in-law's duplicate booking with a semi-different email address and totally different card #. She booked directly through the hotel. I booked through a link at my bank which took me to Booking.com and then Rocket Travel somehow. Anyway, the front desk lady told my mother-in-law that someone with the same last name (me) booked through Priceline (which I didn't) and somehow there was a mix-up with her information. I'm not sure how the hotel had my correct booking, her correct booking, and then a 2nd booking for her - same name and address but the email was 1 letter off and there was a different card # on that booking. I still don't understand how that happened if I'm the one that booked through a 3rd party, not her. I have no idea who tried to sell our information or how Priceline even got involved since no one booked through them! It was just a strange experience.

First, you won't be sorry if you stay here.
The hotel staff is some of the best I have come across. (I've stayed in average to high-end facilities) Karen, the manager, makes it her mission to have a family atmosphere. Her level of professionalism and customer service is the gold standard. Her customer centered philosophy shows throughout the entire staff. We were there for an extended stay and were treated with the utmost respect, kindness and understanding. Karen & Tadessa, assistant manager, who was also outstanding. They listened to any issue we had and were attentive to our needs. Again, both exhibits genuine WOW customer service!
The hotel recently underwent renovations. Personally, I wished the decor was not so average. Hamptons used to have a more upscale decor. One of things, I believe, most people notice right away is the flooring (carpets) & bathrooms. If they are not on the target list for replacement/upgrade, they should be. Not that they are bad but noticeably out of step with the new updates.
Now the not so good. The pool & hot tub are in desperate need of repair/updating/replacement. I was surprised at the condition. Not that it would stop you from using but is definitely not the standard of a Hampton/Hilton establishment.

Well, if your looking for a long stay, this is the place to be.
Got to tell my story:
I had to come back to Michigan for severe unexpected surgery. I have family here, but their places are to small and I needed quite to recover. My wife called the hampton in okemos, because it just off the highway, but far enough so you get all the highway noise.
She spoke to Karen (management) and explained what we needed and why.
And WOW, did the care start rolling out. Karen told about her staff and if we needed anything to make our stay comfortable and stress free as possible, just let them know.
Karen then set us up with a suite. So, my kids and grandkids could come to visit.
Beautiful room, we'll kept and smelled good.
"House keeping there are very accommodate and they were very friendly.
Now, they offer a complimentary breakfast normal stuff, but Elesa (one of the ladies in the kitchen) isn't only making sure your breakfast is hot, she is like a high end hostess.
She will come around check on your food, fill your coffee, very friendly.
Put it simple, we were there a few weeks and after my surgery, my wife went back for rest, and had many staff approach her asking how things went.
They are one big family, and are very welcoming. (Not pushy)
