Stayed 7 nights at Homewood Suites in Novi for business, and overall it was just okay. The staff was friendly and professional, and the room itself was comfortable. That said, the property feels rough around the edges. Once you start paying attention to the details, you start noticing things like dirt on the walls and in the corners, peeling wallpaper, torn carpet, etc. The building doesn’t feel particularly old, but it could use more consistent upkeep. The bathroom/shower was especially bad. Definitely not the norm for most Hilton properties.
There was also a concerning maintenance incident during my stay. One day, while I was sitting in my room working, a maintenance worker opened my door without knocking or announcing himself and entered with a crowbar, apparently to fix an issue with the door that I had never reported. He immediately apologized when he saw me, but it was still a very uncomfortable and surprising situation. From a guest perspective, that felt like a basic privacy and security lapse.
My final night seriously impacted my overall impression. For multiple hours, there was constant running and yelling in the hallways, starting early in the evening and continuing late into the night. As I later understood, the hotel was hosting families connected to an elementary-level cheerleading competition, which explained the volume and activity. I contacted the front desk twice, but the noise was never fully resolved.
I understand kids will be kids, but there should still be a basic level of respect for quiet time, especially in a hotel that clearly serves business travelers. With better enforcement of noise policies, stronger communication around room access, and more attention to property details, this could have been a much stronger stay. As a single business traveler, this property is simply too busy for my needs, and I would not choose to stay here again.
