As a Hilton Honors member I usually stay at a Hampton or Homewood Suites, however, this location was close to the airport and affordable so I gave it a shot. I understand there are different levels with the hotels but several reasons I gave a lower rating compared to other hotel ratings. When I first arrived, they had changed my room from top floor to floor 3. They fixed that, but no reason to change my room if I pick it on the app. The lobby is very inviting, fun, and modern. Breakfast is just ok, same scrambled eggs and sausage all 8 days I was there except one when they didnt even have a protein just eggs. They do have the pancakes, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, and cereal, but compared to the other Hilton Hotels this is not up to par. At least the others change it up daily with other items like bacon, ham, sausage, omelets, different flavors for waffles, etc. The rooms are quite smaller than other Hilton brands as well. What I didn't like about the rooms was no microwave, no closet (open hangers above mini fridge), and no draws anywhere to put clothes such as underwater and socks. I found that awkward to leave those items just out. I dont live out of my suitcase, I spend at least a week to a month in these places. Also, room is supposed to be minimally cleaned daily, I had to ask 3 different times to get it cleaned. Room got cleaned a total of 1 time my entire stay. Then, no laundry in the hotel, they expect you to get shuttled to the nearby home2 to do laundry. The Tru in Charlotte has a laundry and its free, I would have gladly paid to use a washer and dryer, but to not even have one on property for a hotel by the airport, unacceptable. If I were to return to Michigan again I will stay in a Hilton property, but definitely not this one.

I truly found my home away from home at Tru by Hilton Grand Rapids! As a frequent work traveler, I’ve stayed at this location consistently for the past two years—visiting monthly, and sometimes multiple times a month. Every single stay has been wonderful.
The hotel is always extremely clean and smells amazing. The amenities are fun (I love the pool table in the lobby!), and the bright, colorful atmosphere makes it such a welcoming place to walk into after a long day.
What really sets this location apart, though, is the team. They have been incredibly hospitable, and I’m so grateful to stay somewhere that makes you feel genuinely welcomed and valued every time. Special shoutout to Abdallah and Jada for always going above and beyond. Abdallah was the first team member I met—he helped me get signed up for Hilton Honors, and now, two years later, I’m officially a Diamond member!
It was bittersweet spending my last stay here before moving to Chicago for work. I had the privilege of seeing both Jada and Abdallah one last time, and they surprised me with an edible arrangement and a heartfelt card before I left—it absolutely made my day.
Thank you, Tru team—it’s been real ❤️ I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area!

I understand its winter but one of the handicapped parking spots was used to pile snow up and only 3 spots but 6 for diamond members of Hilton seems a little much. This was our 1st ever staying at one of these. It was great otherwise.

We didn't stay there, just parked our car in their long-term parking lot. The lady at the front desk (didn't get her name, unfortunately) was the nicest person I've dealt with this year and maybe last year, too. Whoever hired her should pat themselves on the back because people like her are rare indeed.

Room we had heat was not working properly We end up covering the heater with towels bc it was blowing cold air and it was below freezing weather that night.
Room has a very strong smell from the cleaning products they use for cleaning the floor as well.
But the staff was very friendly and attendant.
Breakfast was not impressed I will give 1 star for that.
