Overall we had a great stay and experience here! Our room was newly remodeled and we chose a balcony room, which I was skeptical about because of noise from the pool but we didn't hear a thing. We ate at the restaurant and bar and the food was decently priced and everything was good! When we asked the front desk for anything they made it happen! Everyone is kind and helpful, the hotel is clean. In need of some updates but still a great stay!

DO NOT STAY. BEWARE. CAUTION.
While it looks big and grand on the inside, once you get to the room it all goes away. While the room we stayed was one of the renovated ones there were markings, nails from baseboards sticking out, and sink issues.
Price of 130 seemed fair for a king bed room. What got me and why its a 1/5 and reported to the BBB is their customer service and charging methods. I brought my own cooler of drinks and Meijer brand water for the room, yet I was charged 6$ for the two waters we never used.
I was told they looked at the paperwork and talked with staff and said they were gone. I told them the exact trash I left on the counter so they knew they were not the room waters, however using logic and thinking their staff can't be wrong must have never been an option. I tried calling the hotel, customer care line on the receipt and got the go around. Still haven't heard back from the GM after leaving a voicemail. While being rude and nasty is never right, the level of competence at this location is severely lacking. I was told, "well if it were me I would just eat the charge".. I would assume someone in the hospitality business would stand for what is right.
Planned a trip for next year and will not be staying here.
UPDATE: GM finally reached out and provided nothing than a copy and paste corporate email. Even responding to the review stating they checked their logs after i let them know exactly what my trash was.. I guess if you want to stay here take a picture of the water bottles.. this property is a joke. Stayed in the room no more than 8 hours and can tell why it has so many low reviews.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Will Never Return
I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Holland, Michigan, and this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I was charged for waters that I never drank, and despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue, the hotel refused to refund me. According to their paperwork, the waters “weren’t in the room,” which is absolutely untrue — we never touched them. The lack of accountability and professionalism from both management and staff was unbelievable.
The room itself was also a major disappointment. The plumbing was terrible — the sink backed up while brushing my teeth, and every time the toilet was flushed it looked like it was about to overflow. The hotel is under remodeling, and as soon as we checked in all we heard were drills, banging, and workers constantly around. At one point, a worker was right outside our window. I’m just glad we happened to be dressed.
Overall, this was completely unacceptable. Between the poor room conditions, the noise, the privacy concerns, and being charged for something I didn’t use, I will not be staying at this property — or any Hilton hotel — again. Very unprofessional on every level.

If I could give this hotel 10 stars I would. They are currently going through a major renovation but you would never know it. The staff here is exceptional from the front desk to housekeeping and the breakfast area. The West Coast Grill is a hidden gem, and Brenda made our breakfast experience perfect. We will be back after everything is done.
We stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Holland in July and unfortunately left very disappointed. When we booked online, it showed multiple room options available at different prices, but upon arrival, we were told that only the most expensive room was available. We decided to stay anyway, assuming the experience would reflect the cost — it didn’t.
On the second day, we found a note in our room stating that renovations were happening and that if the noise became an issue, we could request a new room. We didn’t think much of it and went to the beach for a few hours, but when we returned, our keycards had been disabled and we were locked out of our room. At the front desk, staff mentioned the ongoing construction again until 6 p.m., and we explained that the noise wasn’t a problem — we just needed access to our room. Instead of resolving it, they stared at us until we finally asked if they were implying we needed to move. They awkwardly laughed and then insisted we switch rooms, even though no one had previously told us that was required.
When we asked why we were originally placed in a room directly affected by construction, they said they “didn’t know,” despite the renovation clearly being planned and ongoing (we had even seen workers the day before). They did offer a complimentary breakfast after I complained, but that didn’t feel like adequate compensation considering the stay cost over $700 plus for just two nights — especially since the breakfast was only about $30 in value and still required tipping the waitress.
There were also smaller inconveniences, such as a broken coffee machine in the room and hallways that smelled strange. The only truly positive thing about our stay was the pool, which was clean and enjoyable.
Overall, this did not feel like a 3-star hotel experience. I wouldn’t recommend staying here, especially for the price. There are likely better options in the area that offer more professionalism and transparency.
