I am extremely disappointed as a Hilton Honors member to say this property has faltered so much since I initially stayed there for its grand opening. Check-in process was ridiculous, the front desk agent could barely even remember to write the room number on inside of card. Initially, room looked clean. I adjusted temperature and then the HVAC unit sounded flawed to the point where you felt like you were in an extraterrestrial drama movie. It continued throughout the night and made sleep merely impossible. The outlets in this room were completely faulty, brute force could not even work a plug into the outlets. Did the people that built this hotel forget to take off plastic pieces or something? For someone that suffers from obstructive sleep apnea, this was a massive minus as I had to sleep on the opposite side of the mattress with the one side that happened to work. The power failures did not stop at the outlets by the bed side though, wireless charging on both sides of bed did not work. I went down to Hamiltons and decided to hang out by the bar with my wife who doesn't drink. I ordered a beer and ordered two appetizers. The crab cake was fine but the calamari was awful and could have been mistaken for a ring-lo potato chip. Bartender originally from Chicago was more concerned about the outcome of a game versus getting our food and appealing to some couple that kept coming and going for high end cocktails. We waited 15+ minutes for a dessert. I eventually gave up and went into Hamiltons and asked the hostess to speak to a manager but never got anybody, I eventually settled a bill at full cost minus the ring-lo calamari. On day of check-out in early morning when my wife and I had a very early flight out of DTW, I texted the valet service my ticket number, 15 minutes later I went down to lobby and vehicle was still not there. The valet attendant claimed that he never received it. I brought up all of the above mentioned issues to the morning staff on duty and they notified me that a supervisor would be reaching out to further discuss my experience at The Godfrey but I have yet to receive any reach-out. I am highly disappointed as a Hilton Honors member that I confided in this property to be the gateway to a smooth flight and vacation, meanwhile I flew first class exhausted and had to fight tiredness before a long flight. I sincerely hope these shortcomings are rectified and that everyone reading this takes this review very seriously. Do better for Corktown!

Nice room, but they tried to rip me off at every interaction. To start off my stay I was lied to. I selected my room on the Hilton App before checking in. When checking in as A Gold Member I asked for the complementary upgrade. I was told that nothing was available, but I was already upgraded from the 5th floor to the 7th floor which was a lie. When I explained that I had selected the room on the 7th floor already and was looking to upgrade to a corner room, I was once again gaslighted and told that no corner rooms were available, but she had upgraded me from the 5th floor. Okay, moving on, it is what it is. Arriving in the room, the toilet wouldn't flush and the quick charge pad in the nightstand was nocked out leaving a hole in the table(which i fixed). We head out to dinner and while waiting to be seated I check the Hilton app and whata ya know, there's a corner room available, so I was lied to. Upon returning to the hotel I received a text message from hotel staff asking about my stay. I once again asked for the upgrade and was told the hotel was completely sold out and nothing was available. I quickly checked the app. I was lied to again. Just letting it go at this point the two of us head to the rooftop bar. We were hit with an automatic gratuity not once but twice on the bill. Had to ask to get it removed. Next evening we eat the Hamilton and order the $18 Goat cheese appetizer, which come with slices of baguette to scope the cheese on. There aren't nearly enough slices, so we asked for some more to finish of the cheese. Four little slices of baguette were brought out and we were charged $4 for what amounted to 4 cents worth of bread for an $18 appetizer. Finally by booking through Amex I was to receive a $100 room credit which was confirmed at check in. When checking out I was told everything was all set and a receipt would be emailed and to have a nice day. I asked for a printed receipt and Surprise Surprise the $100 credit wasn't added so I was charged more than I should(See a theme here). We come to the city often to getaway from the rat race of our lives and decompress. Instead of a good time I had to constantly monitor every interaction or be ripped off. Overall outside of the hotel we had a wonderful time in the city, but it was so disappointing that the 40 minute ride home was spent complaining about how we felt like we were constantly having to defend against being taken advantage of rather than having a good time on our weekend away. The rooms are nice, door staff was excellent, but unless you want to be an accountant for a weekend and be lied to, stay somewhere else.

My family and I recently stayed at The Godfrey hotel in downtown Detroit while visiting from out of town, and we had an incredible experience. The hotel is beautiful, but the staff truly made our stay exceptional. I want to specifically highlight Antonio, our bellhop. He was professional, polite, and thoughtful—truly a 10/10. His graciousness and kindness toward my partner, our children, and me left a lasting impression. We were so impressed with the service that when we missed our return flight, we chose to stay at the Godfrey for an additional night without hesitation. While we usually enjoy trying new places, we knew we would be well cared for at this hotel. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

This was my 3rd and final stay here (unless they come up with a better plan to handle the rooftop noise). The rooms are nice, modern and clean, staff is typically exceptional (especially the bell and valet) food at Hamilton's is very good. Unfortunately on the evening of Dec 26th (into the morning of the 27th) The Noise from the rooftop bar was totally unacceptable (my experience was the EXACT same as other Google reviewer Rachelle H., as it looks like we stayed the same weekend. Her story is spot on that the bass/noise literally shakes the walls and didn't end until 2:20am). My complaints to the front desk were met with no urgency or solutions (3 calls/several unanswered texts and chats in the Hilton app). So do not stay if you are a medium/light sleeper. But if your an up all night/no sleep/no kids kinda person... you will love it.

First, the customer service was the worst that I've ever experienced lead by Tashianna some of the worst front desk management in life. She was rude and deceitful. She added charges as soon as I got to check in. Honestly the whole experience was pretty shady. I actually had to cancel 1 of my nights because the over charges were so overwhelming. Mr. King and Ms Diamond were the only helpful pieces of my experience. Mr. Dre on midnights was helpful as well. Tashianna over charged for Valet as well. I had to call the hotel days after my check out to get refunded for the over charge instead of someone having the integrity to send it back for a CLEAR double charge. I would NEVER stay here again in life and wouldn't refer this place if my life depended on it. I will forever be haunted by the Baby Bop in the face looking Tashianna for the rest of my life knowing she cheated me. All black business is not good business. IF YOU CAN STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.
