It is currently under renovation, but open. So we had to enter the back door, where the door was held open with painters tape, 24 hours a day (no desk at that entrance, so felt anyone could walk in that door anytime, staff would have no idea). My wife got the room keys, so I never saw the front desk, lobby was blocked off with black tarps. The back parking lot, where everyone was parked, was also where they staged all their supplies and equipment, so lot was very crowded, and you were walking through a construction area to get in and out. Since this was obviously a temporary situation, just seemed like a poorly planned construction plan.
Rooms were OK, ours was clean, bathroom light and AC have sensors on them, so bathroom light goes on when you go to the bathroom at night, before you are able to close door, and our AC seemed to shut off in the middle of the night. We like the fan to drown out noise, and the fairly loud music they play in the halls 24 hours a day. Also something was going on with our toilet, like it was loose with super high water pressure, so it felt like it was going to blast off when flushed. And ice maker in 3rd floor was missing the grate you put your bucket on, so awkward to hold ice bucket and push button at same time. Often it is those little things that hotel management could fix for $3 that they just miss (and if they didn't find that missing, when was the last time that ice machine was cleaned?).
We usually do stay at Hampton since they usually have a decent breakfast. Because of the construction, I think it was in a different room, but did have a counter. We arrived towards the end of their breakfast time. There was a spoonful of scrambled eggs, a lot of "chicken sausage" and an empty bin labeled French toast sticks. A little dry cereal, some oatmeal, my wife found a yogurt and a begal. There was a single sad banana, two oranges, and we found the last two juices in a mini-fridge off to the side. Coffee and tea were down the hall (if you stay there, grab your drinks on the way to the breakfast room). They provided the "included" breakfast, but certainly didn't leave feeling well fed.
Obviously they are working on the hotel, so hadn't done things like cleaning the elevators recently. Although it would have cost them more, I think shutting down for a few weeks to do the work, then reopen would have been better. Certainly they were not able to provide they type of Hampton experience we were used to. I am sure it will be better when done, but until then there are lots of other better places to stay nearby.
