  The pool is connected to the hot tub, and they allow kids to throw balls or whatever they bring in the pool which is in the exact direction of the hot tub. We were sitting in the hot tub and a rubber, tennis size ball came flying at us hitting my friend in the face and neck. When we told the front desk the manager brushed me off and said "we've let them throw stuff for years" and we need to "swim at our own risk". The design of the pool and connected hot tub make it a huge safety risk.

  I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Birch Run for two nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the beds (2 queen beds) were comfortable. The bathroom and shower were great. My residence was uninhabitable due to an ice storm and the hotel was a perfect place for my family to stay. Comfortable, clean and warm. The breakfast buffet was an added bonus. I definitely recommend this hotel to any travelers heading north or coming down state. 10 out of 10 stars. Thank you.

  ACCURATE MARCH 2026 REVIEW::: located across highway from Birch Run outlets. hotel itself needs updated, cracked wall spots in and out the room, mini fridge I had to unplug was so loud in night couldnt sleep well. elevator floors were wet and dirty, pool is dirty, not enough towels. An over amount of children to per adult that was im assuming actually staying there . I counted aprox 28 bodies at 7pm swimming with maybe 2 of them adults in the pool, 3 sitting out with a separate group. Like I get these types hotels have lots of " parties " but that was ridiculous. One lady had 9 smaller children with her. Highly doubt they paid for that many people in one room. Isn't there a limit? Anyhoodles, included breakfast was ok, searched hotels pre booking for one with a waffle maker, I love those hotel waffles, the ad I saw showed one, they didnt have one unfortunately. Pancake maker though my kid liked. Watery eggs. Staff was somewhat on top of things running out if I said something, so that was good being there was a ton of people eating breakfast. Many unsupervised smaller kids in breakfast area, hallways at times. Staff in general were friendly. Beds are ok as far as comfort, 2 hairs under my covers . Gross. One nasty curly cue in tub, gross. Clearly from 2 separate people if that says anything about the uncleanliness. For 140 bucks , id say book elsewhere. We are here for Frankenmuth for the first time so I looked for included breakfast, hotub, and location and will not book here again. Hotub was nice though. Jets that actually worked.
