You have a great hotel that is lacking support and anyone that cares to keep it running. Perfectly clean room, comfortable bed. Body wash was completely empty in the room, hardly any pillows and had to ask for more. Wake up and go to get coffee in the lobby around 8:30am middle of breakfast service and it’s all empty. Walk over to breakfast bar with only one other couple eating, so not too busy, and milk is out for cereal, yogurt empty at parfait bar, pancake mix empty, 2 sausages in the warmer all while 2 employees are chatting at the desk about their weekend and completely ignoring their obvious job duties. Get some people that care, properly stock and support your amenities and you have a great hotel! Just needs a little bit more care/management to make it one of the best places to stay.
We stayed at the Tru by Hilton in Battle Creek on New Year’s Eve with our three children and had reserved two connected rooms. One of the rooms provided was an accessible room, which—due to the additional floor space—we gave to the kids while the adults used the standard room.
From the moment we entered, cleanliness was a serious issue. Because it was a snowy day, we removed our shoes immediately at the entry and did not walk past the bathroom doors. Despite this, the floor in the accessible room was noticeably sticky, to the point where our boots were sticking to it.
Within minutes, our 15-year-old noticed the bottoms of her socks were no longer white but dark brown, and every step made a Velcro-like sound when lifting her feet. Our 11-year-old—who slides around on floors constantly—ended up with a tar-like residue on the edges of his socks and feet, essentially lifting layers of grime from the floor. It was genuinely disgusting.
Bathroom cleanliness was equally poor. The toilets had clearly not been properly cleaned; visible and odorous urine residue was present around the toilet seat hinges. In the adult bathroom, there were sticky puddles in front of the shower door and paper debris scattered around the trash can from a previous guest. Additionally, the shampoo dispenser in the kids’ bathroom was empty, as was the conditioner dispenser in the adult room.
We visited the pool multiple times on both arrival and departure days. Each time, the trash can was overflowing with empty alcohol cans, the dirty towel hamper was permanently full with soggy towels, and clean towels were never replenished.
Breakfast was another disappointment. At 8:00 AM, there was no cutlery, no napkins, most bread was gone, the pancake machine was not working, no fruit was available, and tables were dirty and crusted. We did speak with the breakfast attendant, who was friendly and helpful—I do not fault her at all.
Following our stay, I attempted to contact hotel management to report these issues. I provided detailed feedback, noted that I had photos documenting the conditions, and requested a call back. No one ever responded.
Unfortunately, this experience reflects a failure at every level—from housekeeping and facility upkeep to management follow-through. Based on our stay and the lack of response afterward, I cannot recommend this property.
The bathroom hadn't been thoroughly cleaned and there was a hole torn in the bed fitted sheet. A couple items on the breakfast bar were out of order.
Some people like Theresa W have obviously mistaken hotels as resorts.
Good stuff: clean rooms, super comfy beds, very nice shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. Lots of parking. Yesterday, the two times I went to the pool, there was no one in it. The pool door was locked like ten minutes before closing time, and the front desk opened it for me for one last swim.
There is a pool table in the hotel, a ridiculous amount of seating (which is nice because people really do chill and connect with others when there is so much seating). There aren't vending machines but instead a 24 hour "market" that has food and stuff to buy.
You get a free breakfast, it's not good though.
Big cons:
The free breakfast should be removed from the perks or revamped. It makes you feel like you will get a great start in the morning.
I certainly did not. It was 45 minutes before breakfast ended. Oatmeal pot was emptied and never filled in those 45 minutes. Basic packaged stuff like butter and cream cheese were emptied and not filled up. Bacon was like wet plastic. No fresh fruit, just a bowl of canned fruit cocktail that smelled like moldy expired stuff.
BUT Singular worst part for me... No clocks. There was not a clock in my room. No clock in the pool room, and no clock in the breakfast area. I feel like staying at a hotel requires paying attention to time, and for someone that doesn't use their phone alot, having clocks around is pretty necessary.

The location is great for accessing everything you need for a decent staycation or for travel. Shopping, car, restaurants, gas stations, etc..
The hotel is amazing and has great amenities that and are brand new. Pool, lobby, entertainment, breakfast 🥞, and the business center make a great offer. The rooms are clean and very basic. But...basic enough you get the value you're paying. The staff are also very attentive and nice.
