The disappointing part was the room, which had a strong smell of carpet cleaner or similar deodorant, and a very loud fan constantly running apparently on the roof above that pumped cold air and made the bathroom freezing the entire stay. There was also other bathroom maintenance needed, including a loose towel bar, mildew/mold around the shower and an unexplained cracking noise when showering. All was communicated in the immediate post-stay survey to hotel management. I got an immediate, auto-generated response to the survey informing of what a "wonderful stay" I had and how the staff was so pleased I did. Talk about being tone-deaf and just extremely sloppy in letting something like that go out. Even worse, manager Kayla responded with an apology and offering 1,000 points added to my IHG account for slip-up. That was fine and appreciated, however the points were never added to my account and when I followed I was met with silence. This is classic incompetence and really shows the hotel doesn't care about its guests, just brushing them off. But, it will come back to bite them as I'm sure I'm not the only guest they've pulled this on. Fortunately, there are plenty of other hotels in the area that truly value their guests unlike this poorly-run Holiday Inn Express.
