We had a very enjoyable stay at Regent Porto Montenegro. The hotel is elegant, the location directly at the marina is beautiful, and the overall service was very good. A very special mention goes to David and Erman at breakfast. Both were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Their outstanding hospitality gave each day a wonderful start and made our stay feel truly special. Thank you both! A few details prevented us from giving five stars. On one occasion, our room was unfortunately not serviced. We were also unable to stream or cast Netflix, Amazon Prime, or similar services to the television. Although there were several bottles of drinking water in the fridge, they were all extremely small. For two people in such a hot country, they felt like little more than a drop in the ocean. Larger bottles would be much more practical. Overall, we felt very comfortable and would happily recommend the hotel.
There are hotels that are truly beautiful and luxurious, and then there is Regent Porto Montenegro—a place that manages to leave me speechless time and time again. ❤️
I travel extensively and have had the opportunity to stay in truly world-class hotels across the globe, but what sets the Regent apart isn't just the stunning ambiance, the luxury, or the perfection of every detail. What makes it special is the people.
The staff is incredibly kind, attentive, and professional, and the service is consistently of the highest possible standard. Such warmth, dedication, and genuine care for the guest are truly rare to find.
And the best part—every time I visit, I feel that everything is exactly as it should be. From the very first moment to the final detail. ✨
I have traveled widely and stayed in many top-tier hotels, but I can honestly say: none compare to Regent Porto Montenegro.
Thank you for making every stay of mine special and for proving, time and again, that true luxury isn't just about the setting and the details, but—above all—the people and the feeling we take away with us. ❤️

Unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional behavior from one of the waiters.
We came to have a drink at the restaurant and were met with an unbelievably rude attitude for absolutely no reason. The waiter said, “What do you think this is? This is not a bar, this is a 5-star hotel. We only serve food.”
When we pointed out that nobody around us on the Riva seemed to be eating and that people were clearly just having cocktails, he simply argued back, “Yes they are.” They quite literally were not.
I have stayed at and visited plenty of 5-star hotels, and I have never experienced someone using the hotel’s star rating as an excuse to speak down to guests. If anything, a 5-star hotel should be known for exceptional hospitality, discretion and professionalism. His way of speaking to us was the complete opposite — condescending, unnecessarily hostile and frankly very unclassy.
Whether there is a minimum food requirement or a policy regarding drinks is completely fine. The issue is how you communicate it. A polite explanation would have taken ten seconds. Instead, we were made to feel unwelcome and looked down upon.
Definitely not the level of service or elegance you would expect from a hotel that is so eager to remind its guests that it is “5-star.”
Well, let’s start with some positives. The location is unrivalled, the shower is excellent, and the breakfast staff are friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
The problems started before I even arrived. My prepaid booking, made through the IHG app using the card already registered to my account, was cancelled twice because of an alleged payment issue. Nobody called to warn me; I was simply told an email had been sent. I eventually requested a payment link myself, and the payment went through instantly using the very same card they claimed had been declined. Despite providing proof that the payment had been successful, I was told the problem was on my side and that my original room rate could no longer be guaranteed. Frankly, it felt like an attempt to charge a higher rate. Thankfully, IHG Diamond Support stepped in and resolved the situation.
Unfortunately, things didn’t improve. The airport transfer booking was handled poorly, the front desk offered no apology or gesture of goodwill on arrival, and despite being an IHG Diamond member there was no upgrade.
The hotel itself simply hasn’t kept pace with modern expectations. The TVs don’t support Netflix or screen casting, the Wi-Fi constantly drops out, and the lack of conveniently located power sockets was one of the strangest things I’ve encountered in hundreds of hotel stays around the world. It was almost impossible to find a suitable socket to charge everyday electrical items. The lack of basic in-room amenities was equally surprising. There wasn’t even an iron or ironing board in the room, something I’d consider standard in almost any business hotel, let alone a property marketed as five-star. Housekeeping also fell short, with the minibar never being restocked after the first night.
The gym is embarrassingly small for a five-star hotel, barely bigger than a spare bedroom. The pool service was slow and regularly forgot orders, and the pool was often dominated by screaming children with no adults-only area to escape to.
The biggest issue is the price. This is an expensive hotel, yet it delivers an experience that falls well below what you’d expect. Having lived in Dubai for over a decade and travelled extensively for both business and leisure, I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels around the world. The very best hotels understand that luxury isn’t just about the building, it’s about how guests are made to feel. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed, valued and treated like royalty. Sadly, none of that was evident here.
The location is exceptional, but that’s where the positives end. When you’re paying five-star prices, you expect five-star service and facilities. Unfortunately, this hotel falls well short of that standard. As an IHG Diamond member who spends a significant amount of time in hotels around the world, this is certainly one of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had. I genuinely couldn’t recommend it.
Negatives:
- Rudest receptionist I'd ever experienced when checking in. Attempted to add 10% "service charge" to my room, which wasn't on my booking and is supposedly normal. The manager agreed it should have been shown on my booking and not to charge it eventually. When I paid for the room he then chucked the receipt at me rather than handing it to me. He didn't tell me about the benefits of booking via Amex e.g. the credits etc. and didn't wish us a nice stay. His attitude was like I had stolen his first born when I refused to pay a service charge that isn't normal and wasn't on my booking. Totally disgusting behaviour for a five star hotel.
- My room did not have a sea view like I paid for, could barely see the sea. My reservation clearly said sea view.
- The adult pool was closed 2/4 days for private events - ridiculous
- The other pool had all the beds taken and the service was awful - took 45mins to get the food we ordered - which was a sandwich
- The thai (main) restaurant in the hotel was closed for a private event - they only had the cafe to eat at for dinner
- The water provided in the room was a tiny bottle and barely enough for 1 glass - for a five star hotel in the middle of summer this is awful
- A 10% service charge was added to everything - which was not given to the staff - so they were asking for tips on top - a service charge is for service and should be paid to the staff, not the hotel
Positives:
- The concierge were great when booking things
- The hotel is in a good location and is aesthetically pleasing
