I called the hotel within 5 min of booking and they confirmed the pool was down. I asked her to cancel which she did. A few days later I got an alert my credit card was charged a night for the hotel. I called and was told that because I cancelled so close to the reservation date. I told them I called within 5 min of making the reservation and only cancelled because their pool was down which was the only reason I chose that hotel. The manager still has not called me back nor adjusted the charge. I just got back from my holiday and will call again on Monday. This is just not something I want to have to try to remember to do during the holidays but also can afford 2 hotel rooms on for 1 night.
