This hotel is certainly in a safer area than College Park, while still being close to UMD. However, there are no ice machines except in the lobby which is crazy for a hotel with the amount of floor this Crowne Plaza has. Also the AC in my room did not work, and the room was way too hot, even in November.

Such a nice property. We extended our stay, for a third night. When you meet Mike, who is always meeting and greeting people, you just met their GM. He is a hands on manager. All his employees praise working with him. We can see why. The breakfast buffet and dinner is top notch. Our 3 favorite dinners are the Grilled Salmon, Yorkshire grilled pork chop and braised beef ribs. We met their chef and the assistant chef praising his “mentor” Our rooms were modern and spotless My only regret is that we cant longer

Pros: The staff that we interacted with were helpful, professional, and kind. The rooms were large and the location was great. I liked the breakfast buffet variety and the food tasted was good. Cons: Number one issue was no climate control in the rooms. I stayed at the end of October for three nights and the rooms were unbearably hot and muggy. The front desk was made aware multiple times and the situation was never remedied. Consequently, spent a lot of time in the lobby. The lobby table/chair surfaces never got wiped or picked up . Very noticeable carpet stains in the bedroom, wear and tear and divots on the wall, shower curtain smelled sour, the hand sprayer for the shower was loose and kept flopping down. Provided two bath towels for four people, did receive two more after a couple of requests. There is no real furniture to put your clothes in. If you can't hang them, they stay in the suitcase. The elevator situation is pretty bad. Not sure what the issue is since there are 3 guest elevators, but there is usually a delay and a line. Guests are invited to use the service elevator off of the kitchen to remedy the situation, but it is awkward and whole route is obviously not meant for guests. I've stayed here before and for the price, I would probably try again but the hot muggy ( and stinky) rooms is a deal breaker.

I’ve never stayed at a Crowne Plaza before, but I expected that IHG hotels would have consistent brand standards. Unfortunately, my experience at the Crowne Plaza Greenbelt College Park was disappointing. The property feels extremely dated and run down, with a musty and unclean atmosphere throughout. My first room was in very poor condition, but the front desk staff was friendly and quickly accommodated my request to switch rooms, offering sincere apologies. However, the second room still showed signs of heavy wear with stained carpet, damaged walls, a musty odor, and a general sense of unkemptness. It seems that room swaps are a fairly common occurrence here based on how smoothly the request was handled. I was visiting for a work event, and several of my colleagues also experienced similar issues with their rooms, including sightings of roaches. This stay left me questioning how this property meets IHG’s brand standards for cleanliness and maintenance. I hope management and IHG address these concerns promptly, as the staff’s kindness deserves a much better property to represent.

The only reason this review gets one star instead of zero is because of the staff, every single person I interacted with at the front desk and around the property was extremely friendly, professional, and accommodating. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The hotel itself is absolutely filthy. While it’s clear the property was renovated at some point in the past few years, the lack of upkeep and maintenance since then is shocking. From the moment you walk into the lobby, you’re met with grime, dirt, and wear on every surface from the floors, to the grout, to the walls, even the stainless steel. It’s the kind of neglect you’d expect from a roadside motel, not an IHG-branded property. The hallways were littered with food remnants and dust, and it was evident they hadn’t been vacuumed once during my three-day stay or even days prior to that. My first room was beyond unacceptable with chunks of the closet door missing. The room also reeked of cigarette smoke. To their credit, the front desk quickly moved me to another room. While this one didn’t smell of smoke, it still had heavily stained carpets, torn curtains, discolored paint, and a general musty odor. The bathroom, though somewhat cleaner, still didn’t feel fresh. The towels were thin, frayed, and clearly long past their usable life. Because I was in town for a prearranged business meeting, I couldn’t check out immediately. Everyone else I interacted with who stayed here had similar complaints. Beyond that, this was one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences I’ve ever had.
