This is a tourist trap, plain and simple, and not even a good one. Came for the history, stayed because it was too expensive to leave. That's it. The "dramatically renovated" buildings are a Home Depot special that isn't even historically accurate- and you'd think they would have sprung for some soundproofing with the rooms being right next to the road. You will hear everything. All. Night. Loudly. The water is luke warm at best and the water pressure drops at unpredictable intervals along with the temperature. The beds were uncomfortable and even my 11 year old woke up with a backache. The main appeal if you're in it for the history is the first floor with the strewn about history and a portrait of, possibly, Kitty Knight as a ghost. Not even an actual portrait of the woman the inn is named after! Even the history seems made up from a "local legend" that has no verifiable facts. For a "great beauty and hero", not a lot is known and no painting of her can be found. They strived for a nautical theme dropped in around the Inn to match the literbox scented restaurant, which after seeing the food being served we opted out of dinner for dessert and were just as disappointed. As for saying it's haunted- not a single thing points to that being at all true. The only positive is the person at the front desk when we arrived for check in was very nice. There are no overnight staff, and no keys, so you use a code to get into the building and your room, which is kind of convenient.

Rm 11 surprisingly small. HOWEVER. It was just ME. And a compact fridge…very nice BR & closet. Very quiet…comfortable for a GUY. Rm 11 may not be best for a couple. Ps. No ghosts. Price should be much lower rm 11

We were looking for a night away but close to home and can’t believe this beautiful piece of history was right under our noses all this time. Our room had all of the modern amenities without losing the historic charm. Walked to dinner in the tavern without having to go out in the cold. The staff so welcoming and courteous. We will be back!

A last minute selection, our first time to Georgetown. A cozy little Inn. The room was great, spacious and comfortable. The view from Room #1’s deck is great, I look forward to returning in the Summer. The Tavern has a great, cozy vibe with good drinks and bar food. We did not eat at the restaurant so no observations there, but will definitely return for warmer weather as the view of the Sassafras River is excellent.
