I DO NOT RECOMMEND staying at this hotel. While the rooms and lobby are clean and well-maintained, the service was subpar and raised SERIOUS safety concerns for hotel guests. I had to take my dog out in the very late evening and noticed that no one was at the front desk or anywhere else in the lobby. An hour later, I had to do so again, and once again there were no staff members present at the front desk. However, this time I was surprised to see a vagrant man had set himself up in the inside vestibule of the hotel who I had to walk around to exit the outer doors of the building. When I returned, I had to literally stand directly over this homeless man to access the card reader and gain entry to the interior sliding glass doors. To be clear, I have worked in and traveled to major cities for decades. I am well aware that homelessness is a problem that urban centers haven't handled well. I am used to it and would further add that I am a large powerlifter so people typically don't tend to tangle with me. That said, paying $200 per night to have to contend with this issue inside a hotel doesn't exactly sound like a great "hospitality" outcome. If I had a wife, daughter, sister, or female friend, arriving late at night to check into this hotel from a delayed flight or what have you, I would be pretty uncomfortable knowing that they could be stuck inside a hotel vestibule alone with a strange man, no key to gain entry to the hotel proper, and no hotel staff member available to let them in or ensure their safety. I spoke to the hotel manager, Ms. Rodriguez, the next morning and explained what happened. She was very polite, understanding, and professional. She understood my safety concerns and confirmed upon reviewing the security camera footage at my request that this man stayed there for roughly 90 minutes, while the front desk, just 15 feet from the clear glass doors where this man was sitting, remained unoccupied. The man was even seen on camera trying to gain access to the hotel via the inner vestibule doors at one point. Ms. Rodriguez could not explain why the night manager was away from his/her post for so long. I was offered an accommodation, but I declined any such offer. This hotel either needs to get better staff and/or significantly improve its training methods if it expects people to have their loved ones stay there with any sense of comfort and safety.
