  I was looking for a place to do a quick stopover on a long drive and deciding between near the Albany airport and Baldwin Inn W Springfield. Pros: They have hot breakfast ( eggs, sausage, yogurt, toast) The rooms have been recently renovated and look like the photos Cons: The bathroom was clean but stank of urine. No elevator. Hallways felt sketchy, wafts of pot smoke, bags of trash outside of rooms. The whole setup felt way more like a one star hotel. I would not stay here again---

  What a mistake staying here- a DUMP. The entire 2nd floor reeked of weed- I couldn't get in or out of my room without a contact high. I'm allergic to it and even going near my door was not an option due to the overpowering smell. Front desk said she'd "mention it to the manager", but I can't believe they don't already know. TV is a pathetic roku setup that means you need apps to use it. The office said the 2nd remote would change the tv to the cable system, but that was BS. Minimal lighting in the bathroom- I couldn't even tell if I shaved properly. The mirror is supposed to be lighted, but SURPRISE- that didn't work either. I had to iron pants but since the iron ALMOST got warm, that didn't happen. Don't know what housekeeping was thinking, I'm sure the obviously uncleaned tub with the huge hair ball in the drain isn't SOP (attached pic). Thankfully I didn't have my glasses on when I first went in the bathroom so I couldn't see all the other hair and crud that was still on the un-swept, un-mopped floor. Interesting that the next door guest's phone conversation was louder than the tv in my room. Sad that I heard their phone alarm at 5:20 like it was in my room. This place is NOT recommended for anything other than a cheap place to crash with minimal expectations for cleanliness and quiet. Lots of shady people running around. I'm thinking this is primarily housing for transients which should tell you what to expect. Wish I'd known before the cancellation deadline.

  The hotel is a decent choice near Springfield, made better by a truly professional staff. They were very accommodating with my requests for an early check-in and a room change, over the phone and in person. I did encounter a frustrating situation where my credit card was accidentally double-charged despite pre-paying with a gift card. However, the way management handled it was impressive. After emailing the manager, I received an immediate, respectful response and a refund of the overpaid amount. He even noted that he would use the incident for team training to prevent it from happening again. In my experience, it’s not the rare mistake that defines a hotel, but how they fix it—and this team handled it respectfully and took accountability - and that matters a lot.

  We stayed as a group in this hotel. The experience was inconsistent across patrons and rooms. The inside of the hotel was nicer than the outside presented itself to be. Some rooms were quite nice, recently renovated and cleaned, and perfectly acceptable. Other rooms had some issues, including: beds not being made before arrival and hair on sheets, personal belongings from previous patrons being left in the room (including a used comb filled with someone's hair left on the desk of one room), doors not installed correctly, outlets in the bathroom not allowing the hair dryer to fit, and other small inconsistencies across the rooms. Despite the advertisement of a "non-smoking" hotel, more than a few rooms were reported to have either a cigarette or marijuana smell in the room. This was expanded on in the morning when a patron was smoking a cigarette in the middle of the hallway across from one of our patrons' rooms. The hotel advertises a hot breakfast, but does not serve its own. A limited amount of food was provided in the morning for our group, but it was very much a "first come, first serve" situation (including boxes of coffee being brought in from the nearby Dunkin), and it seemed as if they were not generally prepared to serve food in the mornings. The staff did tell me this may be changing soon, so I should mention that. There were no elevators present in the hotel, so if you are disabled or have an issue climbing up the stairs with your bags, this would be something to specify prior to your stay here. The hotel did not have enough room keys available for our entire group, despite knowing weeks ahead of time the number of patrons staying in the hotel. This would not be an issue for most smaller groups of patrons, but could be a problem with any other large groups that stay here. Overall, the staff was friendly and accommodating to our needs and requests, and the rooms were of decent quality with newly renovated furniture in it. If you are looking for a place to sleep, this gets the job done. However, the smaller details that make for a cohesive and enjoyable hotel experience were inconsistent and leave some things to be desired.
