The Holiday Inn Express in Milford is in a really convenient spot right off 495, close to some shopping areas and the Milford Regional Hospital/Dana Farber Cancer Center. The hotel is currently under renovation, which seems to be pretty common for HIE properties lately. Parking is a bit tight because of all the construction containers out back, but otherwise it’s easy to get in and out.
The staff was friendly and helpful overall, but I did think it was a little odd that my credit card and ID were taken into an office during check-in, and they asked for the names of any additional guests. I’ve stayed at plenty of IHG hotels and have never been asked that before.
The renovated rooms are nice and clean — definitely an improvement. The older rooms are fine for a night or two, just nothing special, kind of a step up from a Motel 6.
Overall, it’s a decent place to stay if you need to be in the area. Once the renovations are done, it’ll probably be a much better experience.

BED BUGS!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!
We were going to bed and found some bugs in our bed. I took one in a tissue to the night manager and he said they could be ticks as the hotel is pet friendly. He gave us another room two doors away. We checked the room and it seemed ok, so stayed there. The next morning I googled the photo I had taken of one of the bugs and found they were BED BUGS!!
I immediately went to the front desk clerk and told her. She acted surprised and actually seemed not to believe me. I told her that I needed to talk to someone about this and she pointed at a stack of business cards and said I would have to email the general manager. I did that yesterday morning, and no response yet.
We have had to take many precautions to hopefully make sure we didn't bring any home, and won't be sure if they worked for several weeks. I am very angry about the response from the desk clerk and lack of response from the general manager, Bijal Patel.
Since then, I have looked at the hotel’s reviews and it appears that they have a bed bug problem, especially on the first floor where we stayed. Since bed bug infestations tend to travel, I would advise anyone to stay away from this location!!

I recently stayed here and overall, it was a disappointing experience compared to other Holiday Inn properties I’ve stayed at.
First, the check-in process took forever. The front desk staff asked for the names of everyone in my party, which I’ve never been asked for before at any other Holiday Inn — it honestly felt weird and intrusive. On top of that, they took my credit card and ID into a back room and disappeared for a while instead of processing it right at the desk, which didn’t feel very secure or professional.
Parking was horrendous. It felt like the hotel was oversold because there were virtually no spaces anywhere, even late at night. I had to circle multiple times just to find a spot, which added more frustration after a long drive.
The room itself was fine — clean sheets, everything worked, and housekeeping did a good job. But customer service at the front desk was a 0/10. There was no warmth, no welcome, and no effort to make guests feel comfortable.
On a positive note, the breakfast staff were fantastic — friendly, efficient, and clearly working hard to keep things running smoothly. The breakfast selection was pretty limited, though. A few more fresh fruit options would go a long way, and the orange juice was an odd, off-putting color that didn’t taste quite right.
Overall, the stay wasn’t terrible because the room was clean, but between the check-in experience, lack of parking, and poor front desk service, I’ll probably look elsewhere next time.
