The Holiday Inn Express in Chelmsford delivers dependable comfort with attentive, genuinely friendly service. Staff members are welcoming and remain willing to accommodate large tour groups without hesitation, which makes check-in and coordination much easier than expected. Guest rooms feel clean, organized, and surprisingly spacious. The heating unit deserves special mention because it operates quietly, allowing guests to rest without the constant noise often found in similar properties. Sleeping through the night feels easy, and the overall environment supports a relaxing stay.
There are a few areas that keep the property just shy of perfect. Several room doors do not seal tightly, which allows hallway light and a bit of air to leak through, and that can be distracting at night. Aside from that issue, the hotel performs very well across service, comfort, and cleanliness. It stands as a reliable option in Chelmsford and earns a strong “almost 4-star” rating.

Here’s a **warm, balanced Google review** that keeps your appreciation clear while sharing constructive feedback politely:

We had a comfortable stay here for 4 nights and overall enjoyed our experience. The room was well-designed and I especially loved the additional lighting fixtures, and room layout with ample of space for keeping bags and additional hooks which made the spacious and feel warm and cozy. This attention to comfort was appreciated. A small detail that really stood out was the quality of the tissues and toilet paper much better than what we’ve experienced at other hotels, where they tend to be very thin.
Our only real concern was the breakfast options. While there was variety, most items were meat-based, and there were three different egg options, but surprisingly no hash browns, tater tots, or other potato dishes. Since we stayed multiple nights, we kept hoping to see at least one potato option appear. Unfortunately, my kids were especially disappointed each morning.
For guests staying more than one or two nights, it might help to rotate breakfast items, or space out similar dishes (like eggs) to avoid repetition. Perhaps some coordination between longer bookings and the kitchen could make the experience more enjoyable for extended stays.
One more suggestion: the hotel advertises “coffee available anytime”,which is great. However, when the coffee machine needed rinsing or the bins cleared in the evening, the front desk staff wasn’t sure how to reset it for dispensing. A bit of “basic training on operating the coffee machine” when kitchen staff aren’t available would go a long way.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay with thoughtful room details. With a few small improvements, especially for families and longer stays, this could be an even better experience.
Last one more thing about the swimming pool, please have the schedule updated on your website since it is not open for 7 days and long hours. I over heard a brief confusion between the front office and a father who wants to take their kids for swimming.

I made reservations at this hotel through Expedia from Tuesday, November 25, 2025 through check out date of Saturday, November 29, 2025. During my stay I received a weather alert from my airline that a winter storm will occur back home at Ohare airport on Saturday, which made it necessary to check out on Friday, a day early and fly home before the storm hit. When I immediately told the hotel front desk I needed to check out a day early so I could get home safely, they told me I needed to contact Expedia. When I contacted Expedia who then contacted the hotel to advocate for a refund for the Friday night stay which I no longer needed, the hotel refused to give me a refund despite my need to get back to Chicago before the storm. After contacting Holiday inn Express Customer Service regarding this matter, they advised that"while they would like to help", the hotel was independently owned and they couldn't and wouldn't interfere or intervene with the hotel's decision to refuse a refund even though my early checkout was made necessary by an act of God. By the way, my original Saturday flight was in fact cancelled due to the storm. Fortunately, I was able to get home on Friday safe and sound. So don't stay at this hotel or any other Holiday Inn Express since they apparently do not care if you make it home alive and safe. By the way, a big shout out to American airlines who sent me the timely travel notice days ahead of time and made it easy and possible to get me and my family back home on Friday safe and sound.
