This hotel was going to get a 3 star from me, but after inappropriate behavior from staff, definitely a 1.
The first room I checked into reeked of cigarettes. I popped my head in, then about faced, and walked right back to the front desk. The second room smelled of urine, which I didn't understand, since there was no carpet. Sure enough, there was dried, caked pee all around the toilet.
Bed was clean, and I slept okay.
The next morning, I went down to collect brekkie for myself and my partner, and walked into the front lobby to three women behind the counter balefully assessing my every move. I got a plate, looked at the pitiful offerings put out for the guests, glanced at them, (they were still staring) and made a plate to share.
When I approached the juice machine with my travel cup, and checked the juice to make sure it was 100% before having any, the oldest of the three watchers, with short white hair, loudly confronted me, "MA'AM. MA'AM. CAN I HELP YOU. MA'AM, CAN I HELP YOU??"
I gave her a look with a raised eyebrow, and said, "No, I'm just fine, thanks for checking."
This older woman then snapped, "Don't you fill that cup!"
I have a 20oz blender bottle that I drink out of to avoid plastic waste, and was only having a little juice with my breakfast. There was maybe 6oz in my cup, if that.
I turned and looked right at her and said, "Would you stop someone from refilling that plastic cup over there a few times? No. Instead of harrassing your guests, how about remembering that your job is to make people feel welcomed here? Maybe put a little more food out instead of staring?"
I just walked away, upset.
I am appalled at how she treated me, and I hope this is addressed by her manager ASAP. That person should not be working in hospitality.
Edit to reply-
The team did not fail to 'exceed'expectation- They failed to even try to meet basic expectations. And no, I will never stay here again.
