Hotel Indigo New Orleans is not a place to stay. The location offers poor service.
The clerk who checked us in was to busy chatting with another hotel guest that she missed the services we had included with our reservation. The room door was misaligned, we had to put our body weight just to open it. The floors weren’t clean, the furniture was beat up. The breakfast service, was the worst of all. After waiting for 30 minutes for eggs, potatoes, sausage and toast also an eggs Benedict for my spouse, the food was cold and the eggs were so raw that the egg whites were still clear. The waiter failed to checked if we needed anything, he just drop the plate and left. I was very disappointed and upset at the poor customer service rendered by the Hotel Indigo New Orleans staff. Save yourself the headache, skip Hotel Indigo New Orleans, there are better hotels in the area that provide excellent service.

This hotel is nice, in the modern sense. It appears updates. Modern finishes and Clean.
This is the second Hotel Indigo that I've stayed at in the last year and both hotel rooms were were TINY!
That really isn't my complaint though. The walls are thin. The room I was given had an adjoining room door that was unlocked when I got there. It was St. Patrick's Day and there was a group a giggling girls next door. It was 4pm and they were clearly getting ready to go out LOUDLY!
While I understood the time of the day. I was looking to get rest before I also went out. But it was not able to do this as I heard everything about them and their music choices for over an hour.
I texted the front desk explaining what was going on and they basically said there was nothing they could do. The offered to call the room, which I heard them do. But it never got quiet.
I asked if getting moved was an option and they told me they didn't have any other rooms.
I can't even fault the girls. It was the middle of the day.
I would not stay here again due to this issue.

The hotel was great. Service was friendly, rooms were clean and beds comfortable. Staff was amazing. We did valet parking however and when they brought our expedition back to us this morning it was like they took it on a joy ride. Everything in the back was tossed around and shifted back and forwarded. The manager was called to see it and apologized and gave us a free night parking. I was so angry because we were pretty loaded and they obviously took corners fast and slammed on the brakes based on the condition of the contents left in our car, some of which were breakable. 🤬 What a shame after a nice stay and a nice tip!

Let’s start with the positive. The location is great. You’re right in the heart of New Orleans with easy access to the French Quarter, restaurants, bars, and attractions. If proximity to nightlife and the action is your top priority, this hotel checks that box.
However, once you walk into the property, there’s a noticeable shift in energy.
The lobby was packed with large crowds constantly coming in and out. The bar area felt mobbed, more like a nightlife hotspot than a hotel lounge. There was a party like atmosphere that may appeal to some, but if you’re expecting a calm or polished hotel environment, this may catch you off guard.
One thing that stood out immediately was the smell of weed smoke coming from the elevators. It wasn’t subtle. It set the tone for what the stay might feel like.
From a safety perspective, the elevators do not require a key card to access guest floors. That means anyone can walk in off the street and go upstairs. In a busy city like New Orleans, that’s something travelers should be aware of, especially if security and controlled access are important to you.
I’ve attached a photo of the room I booked versus the room I received.
Here’s what stood out:
Rust visible on the door hinges
Extremely poor lighting (in the photo, every single light in the room was turned on)
No real view to speak of
A door closer detached from the actual door
A dried substance that had previously run down the door
The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything — hallway traffic, conversations, doors closing. Privacy is minimal.
The bathroom is also very small. You cannot access the shower if the bathroom door is open. It’s a tight, awkward layout that doesn’t feel thoughtfully designed.
I stayed in the room for no more than 10 minutes before deciding it wasn’t the right fit for me. I packed up and went to the nearby Kimpton Hotel Fontenot instead.
If you have a certain standard when traveling, whether that’s cleanliness, security, or overall atmosphere, I wouldn’t personally recommend staying here.
However, if you’re looking for a relatively affordable place to lay your head down after a long night of partying and you don’t plan to spend much time in the room, this may work for you.
Using IHG Points?
If you’re planning to use IHG points for a stay in the area, I would absolutely recommend the Kimpton just minutes away instead. The difference in atmosphere, condition, and overall experience was night and day.
If you’d like more details on that property, feel free to check out my five-star review of the Kimpton.
