Our rating is a 6/7 out of 10 Here is why: *Only ever got voicemail when I reached out for In town “help.” Never any actual help via call nor text once we arrived-- only apologies and excuses about staff being on vacation for the holidays with family— (if you had no help for that time maybe DO NOT accept guests.) I was not intending to book with an air b&b situation— and did not know until days before arrival that there was no help on premises. Maybe make THAT more clear on your website. It matters. *None of the advertised per bedroom white-noise machines nor earplugs were provided. — the LOUDLY squeaking/creaking staircase, floors and doors REALLY require some sort of white noise with 5 people staying here. ( heck, the doors just need $5 bottle of WD-40!) **The promise of white-noise machines in every bedroom was truly 30-40% of the reason why I chose HERE to stay. So them NOT BEING INCLUDED was a big deal. *the supplied horrible, cheap 1-ply toilet paper is a travesty—which required a lengthy walk to Walgreens to buy our own TP. **1 ply TP and how it breaks down while wiping is unhealthy for women and I can’t understand why $600 a night doesn’t afford a decent 2 ply TP. *Faulty THERMOSTAT kept resetting to 85 MULTIPLE times day and night. *My daughter saw a mouse in the middle of the 2nd floor bedroom one night, that bolted under the bed. Maybe get someone out to check. We found no mouse holes, but know from experience they only need maybe 1”-1 1/2” space under a door or wall to make an escape, not a “mouse hole” at all. Pluses: felt safe here and beds were comfortable. If we ever thought to visit Nola again ( it’s been 7 or 8 years since our last visit and found it much dirtier and rundown and the homeless population 10X what it was on our last visit)— I might consider a stay in the main house, but would not stay in the Maisonette again. We got a lot of apologies and notes to fix it for the next guest, but no fixes to any of our situations. The most glaring example being the 20 minutes we sat locked outside upon arrival and had not one single call nor text answered until well after an hour— but NOT BY THE In-town help— by the owner in California who could offer no actual solution nor help had we still been locked out! The white door ( REQUIRING A CODE TO UNLOCK) between the garage and the guest house was NEVER EVEN MENTIONED in the 4 texts and/or emails giving me information and codes to gain entrance. Only the garage code and the actual guest house French door entrance were ever mentioned— but ALL 3 doors REQUIRE a code for entry. Please fix this for your next guest. It was a COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY stressor to begin any family vacation.

My stay in Sophie’s Cottage was wonderful. The mansion is on a tree lined boulevard and the cottage has its own entrance. My bed was comfy and the bedding was nice. Located just 2 blocks from Jazz Venues and a lovely walk through the French Quarter, I found it convenient and quiet.

My sister and our husband's stayed here for our birthday in November. The house was so cozy and accommodating for all of our party. We were in walking distance to Burbon Street and right around the corner from live music every night. If your planning a trip to NOLA stay here price was reasonable as well tons of privacy.
