Having previously enjoyed my time at this Crowne Plaza, my recent stay was a massive disappointment and a total lapse in professional standards.
The issues began at check-in with a receptionist (blonde/orange hair) who was dismissive and rude. While I understood a room wasn't ready early, I was told I’d be contacted via text. I never received any notification and only secured my room by checking back in person an hour later.
Far more serious is the lack of security. My wallet was stolen from my room. When I reported this to security, they claimed I had left the door open—an impossibility, as I tested the self-closing mechanism multiple times and it functioned perfectly. Another guest reported a stolen ring shortly after, yet management remained dismissive and offered zero support while I filed a police report.
To make matters worse, I discovered unauthorized "downtown fees" on my bill that were never disclosed at check-in. Having stayed at the nearby Sheraton for Mardi Gras without such charges, this feels like a predatory "new rule" used to exploit guests.
For several days, I have attempted to resolve this via telephone. I have been placed on indefinite hold, hung up on, and my voicemails remain unreturned. The lack of accountability regarding both the theft and the billing discrepancies is appalling. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to avoid this establishment.

First experience in the New Orleans has been soured by this establishment. Who knew that public health in the IHG chain was viewed as non-essential. I stayed here for one night, thank God, and it was a nice evening until check out. My wife and I woke up to shower, but we were not able to do that because the shower had the previous guests hair around the walls. I really did not understand that because we checked in at 10pm, and the check in is at 4pm. Which means for 6 hours housekeeping did not ensure that the cleanliness of the room was met. Not to mention the pillow I slept on was molded. Housekeeping knew this because the molded part of the pillow was faced down so that it would not be seen. I noticed this when I woke up and moved my pillow. The sad part is that I brought this to the attention of the on duty manager at check out and the CEO Mr. Maalouf they just apologized and gave me 15,000 points for the mishap. It is unfortunate that in todays time the health standards and expectations have been lowered to meet the all mighty dollar. To all future guests please head my warning, the establishment may look nice on the outside, but the interior is unkept. Should you find yourself in my situation it will be brushed off. Which is sad because I have cancer and this was not an ideal sleeping state for me.

Dear Management,
My name is Enza Morris, and I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Quarter - Astor.
Upon my arrival, I was informed that I had to pay a total of $417.00 in order to check in. I was told that if I did not pay this amount, I would not be allowed to check in to the hotel. Feeling that I had no option at that moment, I proceeded with the payment.
I expressed my concern to the front desk representative, who contacted the manager on duty. Unfortunately, the manager refused to speak with me directly, and I was not provided with their name. I was later able to speak with Jessica Allen, who assured me that she would take care of the matter. However, I have since been unable to reach her, and each time I contact the location, I am told she is unavailable.
At this time, I am formally requesting a detailed explanation of the charges and a refund for the amount I was overcharged. I would appreciate a prompt response and resolution to this matter.
Please contact me at your earliest convenience regarding this issue.

We stayed at this hotel for a 3 day volleyball tournament in February. The club picked the hotel and all of the families made reservations here. Multiple families left after the first night and stayed elsewhere.
I reserved a 2 doubles room in October and noted that there would be 4 people in the group, but at check in we were given a 1 king room with no pull out sofa, and was told that there were no double rooms available. I explained that we had 4 people and couldn’t all fit in one bed and was told that my room reservation was a “request”, not a “guarantee”. Not sure how that works when I reserved it months ago but okay. Another volleyball family that only had 2 people in it checked in after us and got a room with 2 double beds.. but yet our family of 4 couldn't get 2 doubles because there were none available?? The customer service was lacking and rude.
We paid over $1k for the weekend stay and for that price, I expected better quality. This hotel is in less than normal hotel shape. If I'd paid half of what I did, it would make sense. The toilet lid wasn’t attached to the toilet, the sink didn’t drain, the shower curtain only covered about half of the shower so water sprayed out when taking a shower and it had multiple rips in it, there were hair balls on the bathroom floor like it hadn’t been cleaned well, the safe didn’t work- all basic things that I feel like a hotel room should have in good condition. The hallways were dirty and in need of repair. The lobby area was nice, but after that it does not look like what's pictured online. Take those nicely edited pictures and then picture them more dirty and outdated.
We paid for the valet parking which I believe was $50-60/day. I was told that it normally takes about 5-10 minutes to retrieve the vehicle after requested, but every morning it was over an hour wait so we ended up walking everywhere. When we checked out and asked for our vehicle, we were told that they weren’t doing the valet at that time and we’d have to take a shuttle to the parking area. It was early afternoon and I was told that valet was 24 hours. So I paid $150+ for a service that I wasn't able to use??
If you're only staying in this hotel for the location and don't care about the quality or customer service, then this is the hotel for you. It's right at Canal and Bourbon, so the location is great and has good walkability to lots of places. But if you're paying a premium price and basing your stay off of the pictures online, then stay somewhere else.
I would not stay in this hotel again. If a club picked it again in the future, I would make reservations elsewhere.

We stayed during Mardi Gras and, while the location and parade balcony access were appreciated, the overall experience did not reflect a 4-star standard.
The issue was not volume. We expected crowds. We expected lines. What was frustrating was the lack of operational consistency.
Check-in was incomplete. Guests were issued room keys without being provided or informed about security credentials or vouchers. These were only discovered later after encountering issues or learning from other guests. For an annual, predictable high-volume event, materials could have been pre-prepared and distributed cohesively at arrival.
Security relied on disposable paper wristbands that were not issued at check-in. After removing mine to shower (they are not waterproof), I did not think about it again until nearly 24 hours later when I attempted to re-enter and was reprimanded. I was told my husband would need to obtain a replacement for me, despite the reservation being under my name and him not being listed on it. Replacement bands reportedly carry a $27.99 fee. Access enforcement appeared inconsistently applied across our group, which occupied five rooms.
Front desk queue management was similarly uneven. Guests were verbally told there was a line, only for that rule to be immediately relaxed. It wasn’t the wait that was frustrating — it was the contradiction.
Our bathroom carried a persistent odor from day one. Additional blankets were requested and never delivered; the room was stocked only with a thin sheet and quilt. Breakfast vouchers were not communicated at check-in and were discovered from another guest on our final day.
Frontline staff appeared to be doing their best under pressure. The breakdown was structural. Leadership owes it to both guests and employees to implement systems that are clear, cohesive, and consistently enforced. At peak-season pricing, operational precision should not feel optional.
