Extremely comfy bed! We spent Sunday evening through Friday morning at this location and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lucius welcomed us and we also got to know Ms. Tracy and other friendly staff who made us feel like family. We had a courtyard-facing room and it was great to see the big magnolia tree when exiting the room each morning. The included breakfast had delicious eggs and a meat option daily, plus hot grits and oatmeal with fixins like a delicious berry compote, waffle maker, and other options. The latte/mocha/cappuccino machine was a treat. The microwave is accessible 24 hrs in the lobby area. The amazing location is very close to a streetcar stop, the Cajun Encounters swamp tour/plantation tour stop, and of course Bourbon and Frenchman streets. We even enjoyed a longer morning walk to the WWII museum and got to know the city a bit that way on our first day there. We were told that the gas station in view of the hotel, Keys, has the best fried chicken in town, but we didn't get to try that (Coops on Decatur St had great fried chicken.) Music history buffs : directly across the street is the location of historic Congo Square, and within about a block is a legendary recording studio location (not currently open to the public). The only possible "cons" were small parking spots and small elevator, not a big deal.
This was our first time in New Orleans, found this hotel last minute.
The hotel staff very friendly offing tour set ups and directions on attractions.
Loved that they offered covered gated parking for $25 a night, this is not bad considering the outrageous rates other places charge. We asked about street parking, it is not recommended due to street cleaning and parking signs.
For the location of this hotel $25 wasn’t bad at all, plus you park your own car no valet.
Free breakfast nice variety hot and cold options.
The lobby and bar very clean and interesting, bright with the original architecture.
My only complaint was our bathroom could have been cleaned better, there was dog hair on the bathroom floor in the corners, and some in the bathtub, our hand soap and body wash containers were empty, ( happy they provided shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion) the water pressure is weak, however I think that’s universal for this area only because the sinks on bourbon street were also weak. The hot water takes a while to kick in if you’re staying in the rooms right above the lobby or front of the hotel. Not a dealbreaker for me.
Overall my experience was great, walking distance to Bourbon street, French Market, The Old absinthe house, Napoleon house basically everything.
I would recommend this place and return, hopefully our bathroom will be cleaner next time.
I really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel cat loves scrambled eggs, so make sure you give him a little in the morning in the courtyard. He's the sweetest. Didn't care much for the elevator so we often took the stairs up to the third level. The staff is absolutely amazing and were always accommodating and pleasant. The food got a little cumbersome, but we were there for a week. Really close to many interesting places. We also rented a car for 1 day from priority one car rental- he delivered and picked up the car. Great idea for lengthy trips, we headed to Whitney plantation and Laura plantation that day.
This is the one honest review. This place is a shitty motel with crappy rooms, stain on sheet covering blanket. Looks like there was a mirror over desk but not anymore. Concrete walls, no art, in gay neighborhood and overpriced! Room was vibrating from about 3am on. Have no idea why. The only pluses, the bed is comfortable and the breakfast is decent. Much better hotels for less. I'm a travel agent and this is one of worst places I've stayed. My boyfriend picked it based on reviews and guessing they were written by bots. AVOID!!!
