When I first arrived they put my and my wife in an older room with a view overlooking an abandoned parking garage. I found the crew that served breakfast in the hotel seemed very dismissive towards the black guest which I thought was odd because they were black. I’ve been checked out for almost a month now and I still haven’t received my money back they took off my card as a hold for incidentals totaling over $200. Each time I reach out to them they keep pushing back the time as to when I should get my money back. At this point I feel as if they stole it from me. I wouldn’t go back there nor recommend it to anyone else.

DIRTY!!! The location is good, thats it. There is nothing else good about this hotel that is ok. Its dirty, like really dirty!! A deck chair in the pool, like its landfill. Cloudy unsanitary pool water. The room stinks! Dirty bathroom floor, they have not seen a mop or bucket since the hotel first opened its doors from the woolworths switch out. Im betting if you look hard enough under the bed you're gunna find the pick n mix still there. The bedside lamps are rusty, dirty stained sideboards, filthy curtains hanging, the walls are dirty ... does the manager not see this? IHG need to do something here 🙄 Whats good about it? Well, its location, and thats it. Better hotels next door though. Big mistake thinking the photos were upto date. Its like a tinder profile with filters on and then you meet in person to realise the real pictures.

I recently stayed at this hotel as part of a long weekend group event. Unfortunately, the experience of dealing with the hotel has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Many of us booked within the designated group room block, with the expectation that we were receiving a fair and consistent rate for all participants. During our stay, we discovered that some guests within our same group block were paying lower nightly rates than others. It is very frustrating to learn that being part of a group block did not guarantee a competitive or equal rate. Guests should not have to continually check for price changes or rebook reservations just to avoid paying more than others in the same group. What has been even more disappointing is the lack of response from the hotel. I have sent 3 emails requesting a rate adjustment and have not received any reply to my last 2 messages. I also called and left a message asking for someone to return my call, but no one did. From what I understand, others in my group have had the same experience—no responses to emails or calls regarding their concerns. Customer service does not end at check-out, and the lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this hotel, particularly for group bookings.

I had high expectations for this hotel given its 4-star rating, but unfortunately, my experience fell well below that standard. The first issue started at check-in. We specifically booked a king-size room but were placed in a two-queen room instead. When we asked to switch, the front desk informed us they were overbooked and essentially hoping several families wouldn’t show up. That level of overbooking and lack of accommodation was disappointing right from the start. Once we got into the room, things only got worse. During a routine cleanliness check, I found what appeared to be a bloody handprint on the bathroom doorknob—completely unacceptable. We immediately reported it and requested someone to clean it, but no one came that night. The next morning, we followed up again and left the room for a couple of hours. When we returned, the bed had been made and towels replaced, but the handprint was still there. We ultimately had to stop a housekeeper ourselves in the hallway to get it addressed, which should never have been necessary. To make matters worse, there was a needle pin left in the carpet in the first room—a serious safety hazard that could have easily caused injury. There were also consistent issues with communication and operations. Pool hours were unclear and inconsistent. The front desk told us it closed at 9:30 PM, but on one evening our key stopped working around 8:30 PM. On another night, security informed us it was closing at 9:00 PM. This lack of coordination made it frustrating to plan anything. Lastly, the odors throughout the hotel were extremely unpleasant. On warmer days, the lobby had a sewage-like smell. The second floor—especially near the convention area and balcony facing Bourbon Street—had a strong odor of eggs and chemicals. It was difficult to ignore and significantly impacted the overall experience. Overall, this stay did not reflect what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. There were multiple cleanliness issues, safety concerns, poor communication, and unpleasant environmental conditions.

Arrived by Uber late in evening and there was no signs that said Crown Plaza, only Astor, with a bunch of questionable looking individuals loitering about outside. So I decided to just to pretend to know where I was going and tried to get into the Astor door to figure things out. Then found out the doors are locked every from like 10pm on. Really? What kind of shady neighborhood is this? Had to ring the buzzer and wait for someone to let me in with my luggage, all the while surround by a haze of smoke and weed from the loitering group. Then got to the very nice front desk to check in. I was surprised at how slow the check in process was though. I was the only one there that hour, there were 2 ladies there (one was training) but it still took a while. The trainee was cordial but the trainer was somewhat lacking in basic customer service finesse. The older lady insisted on getting my email even though I said I didn't want to share it, and everything was already prepaid. What is the point? She also insisted on charging a $27 a day amenities fee even though none were disclosed on the prepaid reservation. She explained the amenities include discount coupons at local business as well as bellhop service. Really? There were a couple of drink coupons that I had no interest in whatsoever. And she kept going on about the 'emenities' and saying the fee for the 'emenities' were mandatory, and that was the policy, no exceptions. It felt like a mob protection fee. Since I already prepaid for my room, I couldnt go anything else and was tired and didn't want to spend time disputing with her regarding her fee or her diction. Anyway, the room was a little tired (thermostat didn't work at all) but fine, location was fine (during daylight hours, when the front doors weren't locked). And there were lots of elevators, which was a plus. After an unremarkable stay, I found out they actually charged me twice for the blasted amenity fee on my credit card. After calling several times to finally found a live person at accounting, they relayed that they had initiated a refund and told me I should check with my bank if it does not come in. No apologies. Just that now it is my burden and my problem to follow up. Maybe this was just an anomaly, but I will probably not stay at the NOLA Crown Plaza again any time soon. Not worth the hassle.
