The new 87-room Origin Hotel Baton Rouge, a Wyndham Hotel, stands as a testament to the city's rich history, located steps from the legendary Mississippi River. Once home to the Baton Rouge Savings & Loan Association and, later, the esteemed East Baton Rouge Arts and Technology School (EBRATS), a beacon for non-traditional learning and a vital contributor to the downtown renaissance, the building preserves its legacy with murals, artwork, and journals intricately woven into its design.

Stayed at the Origin Hotel in my old hometown of Baton Rouge while out on the road driving the Gray Havens. Great location right in the heart of downtown, just a couple of blocks from the Old State Capitol.
This was really just a travel-day stop between Atlanta and Houston so I could grab some sleep, but the location made it easy to make the most of a short window. In about an hour and a half, I was able to walk to the Old Governor’s Mansion, the Old State Capitol, the new State Capitol, the Mississippi riverfront, the Shaw Center and Capitol Park.
One thing I really appreciated: they let me park our tour bus right outside the front door, maybe 20 feet away, which made life a whole lot easier.
I didn’t have time to eat at the restaurant, but it looked really good. My sister picked me up later and we went to wash clothes and grab a meal, so the stop turned into a nice little mix of road life and hometown memories.
The room had a cool retro-modern boutique feel, and the whole place was comfortable, stylish and easy. I’d definitely stay there again.

I booked this hotel on Easter weekend as I was in town visiting my family. I have to say that the location is excellent, the atmosphere and decor is awesome and the bar/restaurant is top notch.
The bad part....I checked in on Sunday and dropped my bags and left and returned about 5 hours later only to get in my room and realize there was no hot water. I returned to the desk to inform the agent and she told me that she knew about it and as far as she knew it was a water heater issue and someone was working on it. No other explanation , no apology or anything. Luckily my family lives near so I went and showered there. Next morning still no hot water so I returned to the desk again and this time asked the gentleman about it and appeared to be shocked and said he knew nothing about it so I asked had any other guests complained about the water amd he said no so I thought maybe it was just my room and asked to be moved to another room but 1st would he please check the room to ensure the water temp was not an issue. After 15 min he came and said he checked 2 other rooms and the water was just warm. Since there was no need to change rooms I again showered at my family's. I then sent an email whi h was never answered and I asked to speak with a manager and was told no one was available. Three days with no hot water and not even an apology or an attempt to make things right. Extremely disappointed. This particular hotel does not represent the Wyndham brand well at all.
Btw: I'm still waiting on someone to respond to my email or make some kind of contact

What an amazing experience from start to finish. Checking in late, I was met with the dreaded "cannot find your reservation" apparently, the date requested changed on me on my app while going back and forth between options and I had requested a week in the future. Anyhow, Teranika was extremely kind and helpful and found me a room at a rate not much higher than on my booking app. The room was immaculate and nicely furnished. And the rest of the employees I encountered were all smiling and pleasant. Overall, would certainly stay again any time im back in BR.

Made for sad business travelers only. No hot water is shower or sink, just coolish temps, also no heater in bathroom. The gym is boring and not well maintained. Every room is gray or a dark purple, the mood was depressing. The tiger designs everywhere is so tacky. Not kid friendly.

This is a basic two star hotel pretending to be a boutique hotel. It has fun, tiger themed decor and a nice lobby, but the rooms were solidly average and service was limited. We were in room 255 in March of 2026. The fridge was dirty on the inside. Our toilet ran all night, the tub had rust on bottom, the bathroom door has a large chunk out of it. The restaurant was closed and there was not even coffee available which was even worse because there are not really any local places to stop for a quick bite to eat. I’d recommend picking another hotel.
