We ate at the restaurant. I had skirt steak and fries. My wife had a "hot" brown (basically an open faced turkey sandwich). Both were great. We shared the Derby Pie for dessert. Service was perfect!,

This is a stunning hotel in Kentucky. My husband recently stayed here during a work trip. The rooms are spacious and designed well. The hotel lobby and hallways were decorated beautifully for Christmas. The molding on the ceilings, walls and the crown of the ceilings is uniquely intricate and classy. The wall art and furniture fit perfectly well with the interior design and aesthetic of the hotel. All in all this is a great hotel.

My husband and I stayed here in December for a conference. The customer service was incredible but the hotel is in dire need of a makeover. I love historic buildings but I don’t love freezing in my room. We could literally feel the cold air blowing through the windows. The beds are not comfortable but the worst part was when the solid wood headboard fell off on to the bed It was being held up by 2 pieces of wood nailed in the wall. The elevators are very slow and the dining hours are limited. The parking garage is very sketchy with a lot of homeless people. I felt very unsafe in downtown Louisville. The sadest part was NO Christmas decorations anywhere downtown Louisville.

What a classic hotel in downtown Louisville! We spent a couple of days in Louisville bourbon tasting and stayed at the Brown Hotel…what a great choice. The Brown Hotel is a 100 year old property and you can feel the history throughout the hotel. It is beautiful and classy. The staff are all attentive and friendly, and feel like they are proud to work where they do (what great representation for the hotel!). The rooms are nice but it’s the surrounding amenities that make the Brown special. Have a drink at the hotel bar, have breakfast a J. Grahams, have dinner at the Lobby Bar, just talk with the employees. It is a great experience! We are already planning our return trip to Louisville and will be booking The Brown Hotel again. It is an awesome experience.

Upon the most ungodly chilling eve, a night of such bitter Kentucky cold that one's very marrow seemed to sing the high lament, my partner and I undertook the arduous quest for our humble Thanksgiving repast. It was our inaugural visit to famed The Brown Hotel, a place my partner had discovered after diligent research, an endeavor which led her to the legendary local dish known as the Hot Brown. I thank her for choosing this, for neither of us knew we were about to taste something that could silence even the most cynical dinner guest. As we alighted from our carriage, very modern, with heated seats, the wind struck us with such vigor that our very bones lodged a formal complaint. We clasped hands and sprinted toward the entrance like two fugitives escaping the clutches of winter itself. Once inside, we ascended through the revolving door into the dining hall upstairs. The Brown Hotel! A name of startling candour, for it is Brown in truth! From the very weft of the carpet to the noble, albeit rustic, hues of its ancient walnut woodwork, the place is a monument to umber. A gentleman played the piano by the bar, coaxing out delicate notes that drifted through the corridors. We were seated in a separate hall, one decorated with portraits of horses so stern and aristocratic that I felt compelled to sit up straighter, lest I offend their equine sensibilities. A Kentucky culture in full force! Whilst we awaited the arrival of the aforementioned, we deemed it prudent to fortify ourselves with a modest tipple and a leaf based confection. Both, to my genuine surprise, were executed with commendable skill! The salad, though simple in its humble aspirations, possessed flavours that burst upon the palate, a veritable riot in a bowl! The beverage, whose vulgar name has thankfully slipped my memory, was subtle, well mannered, and perfectly composed, no common tavern swill, I assure you. And then, lo! The Hot Brown arrived! It was a magnificent, caloric edifice! It did not disappoint; nay, it exceeded all expectations, appearing less like a dish and more like a challenge issued by a truly ambitious cook. I was, however, deeply grateful that our common sense had prevailed and we had ordered but a single specimen, for we were soon engaged in a truly valiant struggle merely to reach the finish. Our waiter, whose name, I believe, may have been Jamal, served us with such grace and warmth that I feel compelled to record for posterity that the man deserves a small medal, or at least a generous raise. Soft piano tones drifted in from the next room as we spoke quietly of our joys and sorrows, all while fortified by good food and better company. Though the night outside remained bitter and unforgiving, within those brown walls, it felt, somehow, unequivocally, that our Thanksgiving now was shaping up to be a gentle, glowing memory, one that shall warm us far longer than the Kentucky chill ever could. A Thanksgiving dinner to remember, indeed.
