Location is really nice except it is next-door to a club and the "base" about vibrated us out of bed!
The 8-up restaurant is fair at best. The first night the bar screwed up mixed drinks, which they remade gratis.
Very close to the Louisville Palace, just don't plan on getting much sleep.
Promised to be able to use a $1200 credit within a year and was lied to. Corporate won’t give us the time of day to solve this issue they just keep playing games about who is going to call etc. Avoid this entire hotel chain like the plague. They do not care about the hard working people that stay at their hotels one bit.
One of my towels had a folded up dirty surprise inside on my first stay. On my second stay, they had no toothpaste for the entire week. Room layouts are abysmal with poor lighting, frustrating oulet access, and a cramped walking path between the bed and dresser. I must have hit my shins on the bed frame a half dozen times... Not to mention it's ridiculous not to have free hotel breakfast when many nearby hotel offer it.

After a long travel day, I wanted one thing: to reach my room without a 15-minute monologue about gym hours or lifeguard disclaimers. Mission accomplished. Check-in was marvelously fast—no packet to initial, no signature scavenger hunt—just keys, a smile, and “you’re all set.” The front desk crew and manager were polite, funny, and exactly the kind of people who make you feel like you made the right call. I appreciated that.
The Hotel (Expectations Met, Comfort Delivered):
This is Hilton Garden Inn doing what Hilton Garden Inn does: reliable, dependable, and refreshingly un-frilly. The room is basic and has what you need—no more, no less. Which, frankly, is all you need.
Square Footage Shenanigans:
The entry area is enormous. If we’d brought a horse, it could’ve had its own guest area. The bathroom? Cavernous. I briefly considered hosting a roller derby—limited seating capacity of one, of course. I opened the door, looked around the corner, and couldn’t even see the vanity at first. Huge.
Connectivity & Little Touches:
Wi-Fi was steady (praise be). And the mint on the nightstand? A tiny crowning touch that made me feel like royalty—even if the throne, sadly, did not include live roller-derby coverage.
Neighborhood Note (Be Street-Smart):
Downtown block is a bit sketchy at times — the staff even caution about the homelessness. Keep your items close, stay aware of your surroundings (especially after dark), and travel in groups if you can. Standard city smarts and you’ll be fine.
Bottom Line:
Downtown location, lightning-fast check-in, kind and humorous staff, reliable room, and hilariously generous square footage in all the right places. If you want a fuss-free, sleep-well stay where everything just works, this Hilton Garden Inn is an easy yes—just use common sense when walking around outside.

Exceptional Stay at Hilton Garden Inn – Louisville, KY
I recently spent a week at the Hilton Garden Inn in Louisville, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the comfort and kindness I experienced during a difficult time. What began as a planned three-night stay turned into a week due to a family emergency, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate me each time I returned to request a room.
From the moment I arrived, check-in was seamless thanks to Kat and Kevin, who were both genuinely pleasant and welcoming. The valet team was equally impressive—quick, courteous, and always ready to assist without delay.
One of the highlights of my stay was the on-site restaurant, 8-Up. Though the menu was limited, every dish was outstanding. The brick-fired pizza was flavorful and crisp, and the smash burger topped with French fried onions was a standout. Honestly, I’d return just for the food—even if I wasn’t staying at the hotel.
My room was clean, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked with a mini bar, a couple of bottles of water, a Keurig, and a nice selection of teas and coffee. Mornings were made easier with a breakfast buffet and complimentary fresh coffee available for guests.
This hotel provided not just a place to rest, but a sense of care and hospitality that made a challenging week a little easier. I highly recommend the Hilton Garden Inn Louisville to anyone looking for comfort, great service, and delicious dining.
