Very unpleasant stay. The last time we stayed, there was constant construction going on every single day, literally right above our room. The noise was loud and ongoing, and it made it hard to rest or even enjoy the stay. We brought it to their attention and asked if we could either be moved or compensated, which I feel like was a very reasonable request considering the circumstances. After that situation, we were later told that we are no longer allowed to stay there, and no clear or valid reason was given. It honestly feels like we were penalized just for speaking up about something that was genuinely an issue. On top of that, the overall condition of the hotel was not good. The floors were dirty with buildup, everything looked outdated, and the entire place had a strong mildew and smoke smell. The bedding didn’t smell fresh at all, more like it had been sitting for a long time without being properly cleaned. There were even visible stains on the bathroom wall that looked like they had been there for a while, which was very concerning..

While the Blankenbaker Inn carries the weight of the IHG brand name, my recent two-night stay proved that brand recognition doesn't always guarantee a quality experience. The hotel is currently undergoing extensive renovations, which is usually a good sign, but the current state of the rooms is a major letdown. The cleanliness was a significant issue—specifically a visibly dirty TV remote—and the technology is severely outdated, making for a frustrating in-room experience. However, the biggest disappointment was the breakfast. Despite expectations for a standard IHG spread, there was no protein or hot prepared food available; the selection was limited to bread, oatmeal, and waffles. While the price point is low, and you certainly "get what you pay for," the lack of basic maintenance and a balanced breakfast makes it hard to recommend, even as a budget option.

The place needs a renovation or torn down… it was falling apart and disgusting. The bathroom vent/light was padded with toilet paper (not kidding) and wasn’t working regardless. The phone and multiple electric outlets didn’t work. The walls were peeling (and looked suspiciously like mold). I know the place is affordable, but, good lord this place is a dump. To add to it, the receptionist (older Indian lady) was rude and yelled at me about having dogs, which was on our reservation (as in, we paid for them).

Dated property. Carpet needs to be cleaned, walls need painted, and small repairs needed. Odd smell upon entering. Small bed pillows, coffee available in the lobby, not in the room.
