During our stay, the toilet tank in our room cracked and broke when sitting down. We reported it immediately and used towels to contain the water. Despite this, the assistant manager treated us as though we caused the damage, even though there was a clear miscommunication between her and the night staff. We not only reported the incident when it happened, but also called and notified the desk staff that we had moved our things out of the room, and they could send maintenance in. I also sustained a minor injury from the incident.
We were ultimately asked to leave, even though we had rented a room for an additional night. The assistant manager described the room as “unacceptable” due to wet towels around the toilet, trash, and a garlic butter spill on a chair. The towels were used to clean up the leak, trash was placed in the trash can (except for pizza boxes, which would not fit), and I had separated the bedding for housekeeping. When reviewing the photos together, it was unclear what conditions were considered unacceptable beyond the cleanup efforts and a single piece of toilet paper on the bathroom floor. I did take responsibility for the chair stain and have offered to pay for upholstery cleaning. I don't regularly travel with an upholstery cleaner, so I couldn't handle it myself.
Noise complaints were raised shortly after arrival during daytime hours (around 5 pm). I was traveling with children, including one with special needs and a two-year-old. We addressed this within two hours by having a family member pick up the child who was struggling, and we made every effort to minimize disruption. The assistant manager mentioned trying to call the room twice; however, the nonworking phones made that difficult. My cell phone number is on file, but I was not contacted. I spoke to her when she knocked on the door and assured her that I would manage the situation, which I did.
Additional issues included a dirty, very cold pool and non-working in-room phones, which made communication difficult.
I want to acknowledge that the staff responded to guests' complaints and concerns. The check-in staff was kind, welcoming, and responsive. As a mom exhausted from traveling with young children, I appreciated the understanding and care that I was shown at check-in.
Overall, the experience felt more like an assumption of fault than a fair resolution. I hope the hotel improves both maintenance and how situations like this are handled. Improving communication between night and day staff would be a good start.
I will update my review once this issue is resolved.

They didn't have anything that my usual hotel offers. No Free breakfast or coffee, and no free bottles of water etc. Also the mini fridge didn't have any shelves but, it didn't work anyway. The night shift said maintenance Would replace it the next day, but that didnt happen. They seemed nice at the desk, And Ive heard good things about the Holiday Inn express, So I was pretty disappointed But what they had to offer. One plus was the soft, comfortable bed. But for a 3 star hotel, they should have offered more.
Oh, and If you have sensitive skin, make sure you bring your own soap, lotion and conditioner because they have no other options at the front desk. My son is allergic to Dove, so he was out of luck, at least until the next day. Cutting my mini vaccation early.

There is a Sushi Restaurant that shares the main lobby space. The entire 1st floor smells like fish.
