    Stayed at Holiday Inn Express after Tru by Hilton and it felt like I escaped a hotel designed by a focus group of 19-year-olds. At Tru, breakfast was giving “free sample at a grocery store” and the room felt like a loud IKEA display. At Holiday Inn Express, the food was hot, the coffee had a pulse, and I actually slept instead of listening to air unit squeeking all night. Turns out I don’t need trendy. I need edible eggs and peace. Holiday Inn wins.

    Good location BUT.. front desk seemed bothered to check me in and then same with checking out in the morning. ALSO I didn't see bed bugs anywhere, but I left in the morning itchy and covered in bites.

The front desk team immediately stepped in, ensured my privacy, and quite literally covered for me without hesitation or judgment. Their instinct was not procedure first, but human dignity first — something you cannot train, only instill through strong values and leadership. Beyond that moment, the hotel itself was clean, quiet, and well maintained. But what truly defines Holiday Inn Express & Suites South Bend - Casino is its people.
