- AAAndrew AugspurgerSep 15, 20251.0Bat in room 405. I hope anyone reading this seriously reconsiders bringing themselves, their children, or their pets to this hotel. There was a bat living in the room the hotel sold me. I stayed there Tuesday night, Wednesday, and left on Thursday morning of last week when I discovered the bat in the room. I repeatedly asked the hotel staff to follow the St Joseph County Health Department guidelines to have the animal tested for rabies. The manager Ms Bryan said that she would have the animal collected and sent in for testing. Instead she had the animal caught and released. I find this conduct to be unprofessional, negligent, and dangerous to public health. The hotel staff and manager have repeatedly tried to blame me for the fact there was a wild animal living in their hotel, insinuating that I opened windows I never opened, that it flew in the door as I walked into the room, or that it was hanging onto my bag as I walked into the room. I watched it crawl out of the back of the lounge chair on Thursday morning of last week. It was living in there. The manager falsely claimed that the local health departments don't collect bat specimens for rabies testing and then claimed that having the testing done is too costly. It's a very simple health protocol, bats that are in rooms people are sleeping in, should be treated as rabid unless proven otherwise by testing because it is a fatal disease.

Location is ok, it is behind another hotel, You have to look for sign at night, then look down a very long drive past another convention hotel. Over all experience was good.
