I was traveling to Indiana for Thanksgiving and made a last-minute reservation at the Best Western in Lafayette for November 28 and 29th. Unfortunately, the night before my trip November 27, I had a family emergency and immediately went online through Expedia to cancel my stay. I received notice that the reservation was canceled, but I was still being charged one and a half times the cost of the two nights. I contacted Expedia and they directed me to speak with the hotel directly when I called best Western they refused to make any exceptions even after explaining the family emergency. The reason was that there was a Purdue game that weekend. I had only booked the hotel two days earlier yet they still would not provide any flexibility. To make matters worse they charged my card for the full amount of both nights not the one and a half night penalty I was told to expect. I was back in at the following week for a funeral and needless to say I did not stay with them and will never again this experience was extremely disappointing during an already stressful time. Be very careful when booking here and make sure you fully understand the cancellation policies. There is absolutely no room for exception even in emergencies.
