  We didn’t actually stay in the hotel overnight but we visited our relatives who were staying at this hotel while they were in town and went swimming and relaxed by the indoor fire pit in the lobby on Saturday, December 13, 2025. But we had a very strange experience, due to the unsafe location of West Dundee. We encountered a man who was likely homeless and approaching us and making very odd and irregular comments and making our family uncomfortable and an employee was avoiding us when we tried to flag him down so we left the hotel. Normally wouldn’t rate a hotel I didn’t stay in but it’s an experience worth noting. (Written 12-21-25)

  RESPONSE TO MANAGEMENT/MARIAH Hi Mariah, Thank you for responding. However, my comment does not mention anything about incidental charges. I am totally aware of what they are and do not have an issue with them. My issue was with authorizing my card the day before arrival (not a standard practice at any other hospitality industry that I have visited) and two separate times after. I understand that authorizations are a hold & will eventually drop off BUT when not warranted, they are an inconvenience! Why should I have to contact my bank regarding two separate charges/mistakes that Best Western made. Me stating that I would call Corporate was not a threat. I felt like Corporate should be informed of the situation so I reached out to the CEO. As far as breakfast, front desk staff should be made aware of the menu so to not provide incorrect information. Seems to me your response should of simply have been an APOLOGY for authoring my card so many times INSTEAD of trying to educate me. Thx, Katrina

  They had a hard time checking me in and said their systems were slow. I didn’t think to much of it, but after leaving the hotel I SUSPECT they might’ve stolen my card information when I tapped it. They charge a $100 damage fee.. and say they will return it to you after check out… which I thought was normal but I definitely think this is their way of scamming people out of small amounts thinking they won’t notice. First of all things, the people working there were friendly and nice. The total of our stay was supposed to be $195 but w the fee of incidents they charged my card $295. After checking out the transaction had completely disappeared off my bank app which should’ve said processing and they had refunded me the entire stay.??! I was taken back,, Next morning I called the bank & while checking my account coincidentally there was a fraudulent charge on my account for “googlesmartv” of $37.79. I DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING GOOGLE. Straight Iphone user, nor do I have any subscription w google. Funny enough all the sudden they took back their money the $195 & refunded me the $100 . I’m confused as to how they still have my card information to keep charging me and changing the amounts. DAYS LATER TOO after I changed all my stuff.. I don’t trust them. these people are scamming you guys. beware. pay in cash if you can. I just also wouldn’t recommend staying here, during the day it’s nice and cute but the second it gets dark, it gets scary, there is bums outside screaming and yelling,, I had my car parked near my hotel room which was on the side of the building and came to move it to the front immediately after seeing two sketchballs walk away from my car., they were definitely gonna try to break in but walked away cause they saw me open my curtain to see why there was people so close to begin with because there was no other cars parked next to us. I felt uneasy at night, to many sketchy weirdo individuals crawling around at night . I wouldn’t recommend . it’s a nice hotel inside tho for the most part and beds were comfy ig
